So who sold the calls?

Was it market makers or some algorithm? Wouldn't market makers and algorithms normally "hedge" buy purchasing shares or some other option combo to limit their risk?

Also, not having the shares in possession doesn't necessarily mean the option call seller is exposed to the share price gains, they could have bought a call at a different strike which would cap their losses on the call they sold.

I'd say interesting more than big. I love the fight in the little guy but he's Glass Joe taking on Mike Tyson.....

Won't be surprised to see the SEC step in prior to the live stream and put a hold on GME trades due to "manipulation".

Think about the set up. We had the SEC Chairman on CNBC two days ago talking about a guy in his house squeezing a video game retailer. It's not like this stock is vital to national interests like an energy or oil producer or even a bank. A freaking video retailer!

Gensler is as dirty as they come. He was Hillary's campaign chair. His boss at MIT was Caroline Ellison's father. You know the CEO of Alameda Research, aka SBFs girlfriend. He's going to protect his friends.

most of these reddit losers just want to inflict pain on others, because many are socialists and marxists

but they are too stupid to realize that with high frequency trading and AI tools, EVERY billionaire and hedge fund is faster than Maria in her mom's basement.

Agreed. For every Reddit dork in their basement that can buy 2-3 or even 10 shares there's a Wall street firm that can sell short 100,000+ shares. There aren't enough of these dorks to buy up the new shares that Game Stop can issue, not forever.

Game Stop as a national brick and mortar enterprise is a dying marketplace. With new games being entirely cloud based there is continually decreasing utility in brick and mortar retail for second hand physical media. Their only market is nostalgia.

Flea markets aren't publicly traded.

Buying a stock is manipulation.

Selling stock you don't even own in order to drive the price down is not. If the owners sell their stock, that's one thing.

That's some ****ed up logic there.
