On one hand, they seemed to be in control of his gun and didn't seem to really need to shoot him given they were nearly stripping him of his weapon.

Don't think they had "control" of it until after shooting him and he lets go. Pretty sure he fires that first shot as the cop grabs his gun.

I know I'm going to get roasted for this, but while I'd gladly provide the pickup truck to drag those that commit these crimes behind, am I the only one that has a problem with charging someone with a crime they haven't actually committed? I realize they INTEND to commit a sex crime when they THINK they are meeting an underage person for sex but when an ADULT is the one making the contact, how can this be pedo related?

I know the statutes are sometimes worded in such a way to include this, but isn't this ripe for abuse?

That's prob why a lot of these guys end up with very light sentences. I think the charge is like inducing or enticing a minor instead of statutory rape. There are instances of these guys being arrested, booked, bailed out, and then getting caught doing the exact same thing the very same day. The guys who get caught for actually having sex with minors much stiffer penalties.
