Homeland Security released the illegal immigrant accused of killing Laken Riley into the U.S. because it lacked the detention space, according to his confidential immigration file.
Sen. Josh Hawley, Missouri Republican, read key parts of the file into the record at a Senate hearing Thursday.

Jose Ibarra, the man charged with the Feb. 22 slaying, was released under Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas' power of parole, which is supposed to be used in limited cases and only when there is an urgent humanitarian need or a significant benefit to the public.

He should be too dead for space to be worried about.

If I am reading the article correctly, it is saying that he was released by DHS prior to the murder, not after the murder.

He's still in custody. They are talking about why he was free in the US at the time of the murder.

Reading comprehension.

This. No way they would do that right now. That would be an issue that could actually tilt the balance...if they actually released her cold blooded killer to walk freely in the streets.

Still inexcusable and something that is happening too frequently in Houston...in the name of "racial justice".

The thread title is vague and misleading.

He was released by DHS in 2022. He is still in jail for the murder charge.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Our federal government and especially the Dems are nothing but clowns. What a tragedy all because not a single Dem believes in the sovereignty of our borders.

Yeah, but that's nearly as fun as glancing over an article then rushing over to F16 and posting a rant full of righteous anger!

Without imaginary scenarios made up in someone's head, there would be as much here to rant about!

Using their logic. If someone hires an illegal to kill someone and they let the illegal go, is the person who hires the illegal hitman off the hook also?

Sanctimony noted. It's still incredibly outrageous that our government is releasing known criminals into the interior of the country and on bogus grounds no less.

In OP's defense, the article title was misleading.

The sad part is it is not very far-fetched to think he could be released under no-bail/promise-to-appear conditions, even given his status as an illegal alien.
