No, we belong in our own category. That's it.

Clickbaity slide show written by "Local News X"... Guys, this was probably generated by an AI under the supervision of somebody with a tenth grade education making $3/hour at a content mill in Pakistan.

Texas is part of the South, especially east of I35, but it isn't really Dixie. Dixie is really just Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. Dixie is a specific part of the South.
College Station and Houston are really not part of the South...

Isn't Houston calling itself the culinary capital of the South?

Yeah, sorry, but Texas is a a southern state. It is considered southern by every demographic measurement there is. Politically, culturally, and demographically Texas aligns with the South. I simply don't understand some of y'all's aversion to anything southern. It's like you think we belong in the B1G or something.
Houston doing that is probably just referencing geography....

And...No...if ANYTHING, Texas is part of the SouthWEST...

It IS a different thing.

The South was in a different COUNTRY for the the first 9 years of the existence of Texas.

And regarding your B1G comment, the Aggies and tu were in the SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE for 82 years...

But, in reality...We don't really fit with the other Southwest states (NM and AZ, maybe OK/AR) either.

Just like everyone else.

I don't know if you are referring to my post but my point is Texas is just Texas - it is the single most unique and standalone state in the world.Yes it i southern but it is also western - truly unique

I'm not reading all of this. I was asked on Wednesday if I'm ready for the summer by a superintendent, which is higher than a supervisor if I'm ready for the summer heat. My response was "I am bread into this ****". If it's too hot for you leave.

Oh we're southern for sure, just not "Dixie" which has its heart in the Carolina / Georgia area and fans out from there.

Dixie is subregion of the south and we have no claim to it, which is fine.

Dammitt what are we gonna do if intense heat, humidity, tornados, hurricanes, killer spiders, snakes, giant mosquitos, wasps, yellow jackets, bees, poison ivy and plagues of locusts and June bugs aren't keeping people out anymore? The rest of the country must really be screwed up by something.

There was a line in Yellowstone when Jimmy moved from Montana to Texas. His new ranch hand told him "It's Texas - everything sticks, stings, or bites."

Texas west of the Pecos River is part of the southwest. The rest of the state has little in common with the southwest.

Ft Worth is where the west begins. Dallas is where the east peters out
The world looks yellow to a jaundiced eye

The poster said Texas is in the southwest. I was just pointing out very little of Texas is similar to the southwest. As for Fort Worth and Dallas I don't know what they are.

Guess they just ignore SpaceX, Tesla, Apple, Dell, State Farm and the list goes on and on....

I hope they do. We're full. We'd be so much better off if we could get rid of our two worst invasive species: Kommiefornians and illegal aliens. And maybe gift Houston to Louisiana. Make two states better with a single move.

You do realize the economic engine that is Houston right?

And I say that as someone who hates living in Houston.
Of course. I'm just not a fan of being in a concrete swamp where nobody knows how to drive but me and avoid being in that town at all costs. I'd rather go to Austin even as Austin is today. That's how much I dislike being in/around Houston. It's a terrible, humid city that cheats at baseball and has good restaurants. But don't tell the Kommiefornians about the restaurants.
