Given RawAlerts propensity to over hype stuff, it will probably end up being something mundane like a bad software update to certain 911 systems or some kind of hardware failure (data center crash, cut fiber line to a data center, etc.) that all of the affected systems are somehow connected to.
The usual morons on Twitter are claiming 911 is down "in multiple states" and that it is the entirety of those states. Others claim it is down in the entire country. This is incorrect. It is certain locations in specific states, but some states have more locations out more than others. In Nevada, it is only affecting Clark County.
Of course, we live in a world today where half the people believe nothing could be an accident or even believe in reality itself. Everything must be a nefarious act or part of a conspiracy. By whom simply depends on your political views.
There is never any consequences for intentionally spreading lies and fear just to gain clicks. And no, I do not think the government should be punishing anyone for what they say. What should happen is people on their own accord should blacklist the idiots who hype and lie over and over and over again by not giving them any attention, clicks, likes, etc.
Edit: And the services are already coming back online including in South Dakota and Clark County, Nevada.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill
