"Unalived"? Why is this a thing now?
Are we now too soft to say suicide or death?
Are we desensitizing youth about death and suicide?

I think that a workaround on the social platforms filters that would otherwise block content

Social media platforms don't allow the word suicide. So kids found a workaround.

Another one is "self delete".

Similar to using Hitler on many platforms. The workaround is Hil-ter or mustache man.
When the truth comes out, do not ask me how I knew.
Ask yourself why you did not.

I have also seen it substituted for Killed and murdered

Read Orwell's 1984. It's called newspeak. Newspeak is becoming more common, as in the book, which is being used as a manuscript for the American, and worldwide to a degree, Left. Changing words/terms for common historically used terminology debases actions, primarily, from negative descriptions and helps separate unpleasantness from actuality.

When someone got " unpersoned" in 1984 they were vaporized by the Secret Police, for usually thinking "outside the box" politically, in a society that which everything was political.

So, the Lefty that offed himself not surprisingly took a Orwllian wet dream type term like "unalived" and applied it to his SUICIDE.

1984 was fiction, but somehow for a book written in 1938, it is playing out in real time, right before our eyes. It's not fiction anymore. More like prophesy.
"Green" is the new RED.

Can't use the word suicide because somehow talking about a very real thing can cause it, but merely not talking about it makes it go away. It's the mostly oversized and exaggerated concept of ideation.

Yet, because every language has synonyms or equivalent phrases, you can still talk about the same things in the sand ways and somehow it becomes magically ok. It is the work of stupid myopic oppressive care types, and possibly the gutless in the legal department.

You know, if we hide a thing and don't talk about it, it doesn't exist…again. Orwellian NewSpeak.
Hey...so.. um

Countless studies have shown talking about suicide decreases suicide and doesn't put the idea in anyone's head. Every suicide prevention program stresses the importance of talking about it with those who are depressed.

Lol... it's not some crazy conspiracy. It's simply a way to talk about these topics on social media platforms because they will get videos and posts taken down if they use the real words.

It actually started several years ago just as a humorous word. It's just a funny gen z slang thing, maybe it's turned into a legitimately used word to work around for social media algorithms but it really did just start out similar to terms like "yeet" and "rizz."

It seems like every day there's some new term we're supposed to immediately adopt. I remember the wtf moment when I heard "deadnaming." One side is particularly good at moving the needle with language. Look at "reproductive health" as example 1A. We laugh and laugh as they mainline it into the minds of the masses.

Tiktok and a couple of other platforms use keywords to target posts and ban them, the slang has bled over into common usage...

Tiktok will automatically give you a strike for typing "boobs". There are several terms FB will target you over as well. A friend got a time out for saying she was going to run over a cowbell.

The term deadnaming is over 30 years old that I'm aware of, and likely predates that.

Glad you think it's funny. I think it's cowardly and moronic that leftists can't speak or hear the plain truth.

I usually hear it as slang for killed or murdered.

This has nothing to do with "leftism". It dates back to the YouTube "Adoocalypse" when advertisers started pulling money from edgy content. The subsequent censorship by these platforms followed money, not ideology.

The kids on these platforms figured out workarounds to not get auto strikes by bots searching for certain keywords. There may be leftist elements but this isn't a leftist thing.

I think everyone's aware of this.

They're discussing why the platforms won't allow the real terms any longer...

Because posts that use those terms are often deleted by facebook and the user gets banned for threatening speech or hate speech.

I once got a 30 day stint in the hole on fb because I used the word "coon" on a thread about......wait for it......wait for it.....racoons. Even had pictures of coons and all.

Because facebook deems "coon" an offensive and derogatory term, because deep down they are all racist AF and project their shortcomings on everybody else.

Gonna disagree with you there, it is absolutely a woke leftist thing starting with woke leftist companies and ending with woke leftists media platforms and publishers that don't have a spine and, frankly, are perfectly good with siffling anything resembling open and free speech and definitely siffling any speech that they disagree with.

You know, since they are the party of openess and inclusiveness and all that jazz.

Silliness.

Absolutely everything that one does not like is part of a vast, conspiratorial plot by the "other side."

This isn't a term that was adopted to contribute to an agenda or political goal. 99% of the time it's just a generational slang the same way that "groovy," "far out," "clutch," or "gnarly," were words that popped into common vocab.

Agree to disagree. Changing the focus of the word matters. And if it is driven by social media, then it's even more obvious. If they ban "suicide" but don't ban "unalive" which has the same meaning in the end, they're actively changing how people perceive things.

Sure, that's fair. I'm just saying that almost every time you see or hear someone use the word "unalive," it's not to get around social media filters, it's just because it's funny to their generation. That's kinda what young people do, every generation has their terms. Gen Z has a really dark sense of humor and a very strange sense of humor where nonsense is funny in general.

I understand and agree with what you're saying about those rare occasions that it's being used to circumvent filters/algorithms, I just don't want everyone to think that every time you see the word, it's the new world order restricting your free speech, it's typically just young people being humorous, since that's how the word started.

There was a while in the 2010s when "woke" was often used to describe something that was cool or "hype." I had a boomer moment (at the age of 21) in the midst of all the 2020 race conversations when someone asked if I knew that the word now only meant something regarding racial/political issues. Maybe unalived is making that journey now but most times I hear/see it, it's just for the "lol's."
