I appreciate art that involves decades of unique skill and style development that other's cannot replicate.
I do not understand the demand for modern art that can be replicated in 15 minutes by a novice.

The world of art collectors is a little more money driven than art driven. They buy up a portfolio of artists hoping at least one becomes a big name. Like a stock portfolio. Then they can also donate works to museums as a tax write off in years their earnings are really high. They don't care about the art that much, just enough to profit from it, not really appreciate it.
