there is a bit of apples/oranges involved in your analogy, because this statue addresses a political issue (abortion) rather than religion. The proponents of the statue clearly do not worship a goat headed RBG as a deity. But let's go past that.

I would have absolutely no problem with a 10 Commandments display, so long as the same institution allows the same amount of space to competing religious ideologies. You know, like the "church of Satan" statue that seems to give everyone on this forum such heartburn, which is allowed a display in order to provide cover for the displaying Judeo Christian religious iconography.

I graduated form UH and never would have heard of this if someone didn't regurgitate it here like a dead bird left my barn cats on my doorstep. You guys give these people a broader audience. I mostly agree with you, although I would quibble on the following.

I don't think just because you dress up religious iconography with items to make a political point that it makes it stop being religious iconography.


You and I both know UH would lose their **** if it was a similar political message being portrayed with Christian iconography. I doubt it would ever be displayed.
