I think it will be Newsome. Everyone is sick of old presidents and they'll win because it will be young guy against another old fart.LRHF said:JohnLA762 said:

Gavin baby… it's going to be Gavin! Can't wait to see Trump destroy the Cali gov
And by "Biden" you mean Jill.SouthTex99 said:

There is simply no way they can spin last night as anything but a disaster. All Biden had to do was keep it together for a few minutes and speak coherently and he had multiple memory lapses while claiming he was fine. They will try of course but this one will be hard to gaslight because they made a big deal and had the PC.
Of course this also gave Trump an opening because it shows Biden's DOJ knows he committed a crime and are just not going to prosecute him while they are going full bore after Trump. The question is if Trump can take advantage of it and make a coherent argument instead of going off the rails with some new distraction. Best thing Trump can do is focus on the border and about how people are struggling financially. Maybe he can stick with the "If Biden wants to prove he is mentally competent let's debate next week for 90 minutes on Hannity" or something. He's not going to do it anyway so just rub it in.
The key is if he can stay focused or if he decides to bring up something completely unrelated and save Biden from the news cycles. The media will be looking for something, anything to do that with.

i agree it would be a good idea to challenge biden to a debate and Trump should predicate it on not only to discuss positions on matters but also state up front it will be to provide insight into biden's mental capacity.aggie93 said:

What other real choice do they have? Dems do not have a deep bench, not one that isn't also older, at least.Get Off My Lawn said:And by "Biden" you mean Jill.SouthTex99 said:

If the DNC wanted the soft swap, they'd have given the report a week and then had Joe announce that he was honoring the assessment and - while he still thinks he's fine, he understands the concerns & has full faith in his VP being ready to take the reigns.
I don't get it, but it seems the Dems are intent on weathering this storm to continue forth via this leaky senile vessel.

If biden refuses the debate, it will reenforce the actuality that he is mentally incompetent, if he accepts the challenge it will be a disaster.
I wonder if the democrats would trot out obama, in white-face pretending to be biden, and have him say "look" and "here's the deal" and mention Beau often? The media would cover for them.
There is a school of thought that anyone with less baggage than Biden could beat Trump, so there will be folks who are interested in pursuing that, but the means to do it are limited.aggiehawg said:What other real choice do they have? The actual political consulting class is fairly small. If there was any type of effort for Michelle to run, somebody would be hired and that would be known among that group. Ditto for most anyone else, right now.
Manchin is too old as well. Newsom is a lightweight with a horrible record in California. Whitmer brings nothing to the table either.
If Prizker (age 59) was going to helicopter in, there would be some exploratory meetings happening with the donor class.
There's a very simple decision tree where you asked yourself whether you would vote for "I'm senile and can't remember my dead son just so you stop looking at the border" and were persuaded to do so by *checks notes* tweets that offended you.TA-OP said:

1968. Humphrey didn't start campaigning until late March that year after LBJ dropped out. At the convention, Humphrey had considerably fewer delegates (Get Clean for Gene had many more).Quote:
If Biden keeps wracking up committed delegates, then I don't think there is any way for the DNC to pull a switcheroo and nominate someone else at the convention, over Biden's objection. He could withdraw and toss it to the convention (or to the national committee if he withdrew post convention), but there is no indication that he will voluntarily withdraw.
It's delusional to believe that Trump who LOST TO A 80 year old DEMENTIA PATIENT.LRHF said:JohnLA762 said:

the powers that be are or were petrified of the tucker and putin interview. they tried to get out in front of it, multiple interviews with democrats bashing tucker before it aired by hillary clinton and others. this was a narrative they were not in control of and that caused panic.
they then rolled biden out knowing this would be the result. and it worked. i have seen more articles written today and more discussion on biden than the tucker putin interview.
at the end of the day this was allowed to happen to change the topic and take back control of the narrative. if americans actually woke up to what ukraine is really about there would be a much greater uproar.
big picture not sure if this is to get rid of biden which most will think or just to change the narrative. ultimately we saw nothing from biden we didn't already know, he is a dementia riddled fool.

is going to beat good looking, 50 year old used car salesman Newsom.
Biden is beating Trump in Georgia and Arizona- give one good reason why Newsome would do worse in Arizona and Georgia than Biden did in 2020.
when he won both of them.
Trumpers love to say the exact same smack they were talking about how Trump would destroy Biden in the debates in 2020. which never happened.
