I think that this is what needs to be shouted from the rooftops. This has apparently become just another money raising organization that uses most of the money raised to maintain itself. These sort of orgs need to be put out of business. All that is required is to stop donating to them. Find better charities.

I will now refuse to donate to the MS society due to their egregious treatment of the elderly.

This is incredibly disappointing. Riding this ride has been an insignificant but symbolic gesture in support of my mom and sister who both have MS. The couple of grand my friends and clients donate has been much appreciated by them. I'm riding this year and will reconsider after this one. Going to talk to my mom about it. She's a bit left of center but this is going to offend her. Then if the 20% number is true that's going to really eat her up. Anyone have a link to those financials?

Sorry no, I refuse. When people ask me why I say you cannot require me to use words that support a belief I do not ascribe to.

It is the same as if I were to require everyone to use the words or phrases: "God, God bless you, in the name of the Father or Jesus died for your sins" in your speech every day. If I said it was offensive not to say those words when addressing me that would be requiring you to adopt my belief system.

But we can't do that and everyone would object to it if we/I did.

It is a form of infringing on our right to free speech.

Well, when you write a note to your kid's teacher, and they write you back thinking you are his mom, and then the teacher meets my wife, and my wife gets upset with me because she gets credit/blame for something she didn't write...

...Also, I've used misgendering to my advantage many times. When I know I'm leaving a message for a man, they are far more likely to call me back if they think I'm female...and maybe hot.

One other problem is that I have a title, and it annoys me to have to drop it for "Mr." sometimes in professional settings so people will know I'm male.

All of that stuff has happened to us. I meant im not going to put my pronouns on some work correspondence or something like that. I use it to me advantage when buying crap on marketplace all the time.

I would encourage you to reconsider riding in THIS year's event. The volunteer and financial impact to this insane action by the MS Society should be severe and IMMEDIATE. Otherwise, these ideologues will make every excuse for the reason of your delayed non-participation other than the correct one.

Some nutbag woke activist embedded within the bureaucracy there has taken the opportunity to virtue signal, and persecute an unbeliever or apostate to the new religion.

Good for her! It sucks they fired her but the minute somebody calls me on using the wrong pronoun, I'll retire. If that were my mother, I'd probably be on the evening news. Nothing infuriates me more than a-holes and pronoun police.
