Some years ago, there was an article in the Houston paper (Post or Chronicle) about a horse being buried in the median of some street on the south side of Houston. It had died at that spot and they buried it there to save the hassle of moving it.

There were so many complaints that they had to send out a crew to dig it up and haul it elsewhere.

I thought they should do like we occasionally do around here with a dead animal -- tie a chain around the leg and drag it down the road to where you want to leave it for the dead animal truck to pick up.

Poor PETA. For decades they enjoyed their place on the left fringe and extra controversial status, but in just a few short years the progs have reduced them to "moderate liberals with unadventurous theories."

A roadside BBQ stand would have made a good memorial.

Hate to tell you this….. we regularly use a horse chiropractor on some of our performance and trail horses.
Works wonders on them sometimes. They get get the same type of injuries and problems skeletal and muscular as we do.
He also does deep tissue massage to help heal strained muscles, ligaments, tendons. Really helps with lots of equine injuries.
His clinic also works with dog people who who use dogs for law enforcement K-9,s, field trials for sporting dogs, herding dogs etc.
Our equine vet actually recommends him for numerous issues rather than using drugs and more invasive procedures.
Has nothing to do with humanizing the animal.
It's a matter of using the technology and knowledge for keeping the animals in the game and helping them heal.
Same as taking them to the vet when needed.

And that gives fodder to their stupid cause. Been around ranch animals, horses, cattle, exotic game and deer species all my life. Have been an advid hunter and fisherman all my life. My dad has been involved with law enforcement K-9's all of my life.
Regardless if I'm hunting, fishing, working the ranch and have to put an animal down ( many times) I was taught respect for that animal and its life by my grandfather and dad. Both lifelong ranchers.
But if you think it's cool to post how you drag one down the road with a chain……ok.

I had my first personal interaction with these zealots years back in Louisiana at a large bass tournament.
PETA showed up and a bunch of them laid down on the road and boat ramp preventing the fishermen from putting their boats in the water. It was a high dollar tournament with a large entry fee and the fishermen ( Mostly Good Ole Louisiana boys) did not take kindly to it and things escalated quickly.
Louisiana HP showed up with patty wagons and started hauling them off before boat trailers and trucks started backing over them.
They did not show up the next day.

Do you want me to lie about it?

It's a fact of life that animals die. Most cattle are taken to the packing plant, but some do die on the farm/ranch on occasion from various causes. A few years ago, a local feedlot lost quite a few cattle in a blizzard.

I even saw one steer have a heart attack once when I was in high school.

Horses die, too. Often from old age, but West Nile Virus can hit them awfully hard.

The dead animal truck isn't going to go driving across fields and pastures. If it's not there where they can pick it up from the road or just right by it, they won't do it.

As I said. Been a ranching family since the early 1900's. I've seen lots of our animals die from all kinds of reasons. So you don't have to educate me on how animals can die.
Nobody asked you a question about how you handle animals…. that you would have had to lie about it in an answer.
You made the statement because you thought it sounded cool that you drug them by a chain down the road…...and now you are trying to justify why you said it.
That's how I read it…. If I'm wrong… then I apologize.

Same here. My wife called one of the companies that guaranteed that dogs could not chew their toys up. The lady did not believe her so she wanted to see pictures.
My wife sent her pics and after looking at the pics she told my wife that our dog was a "toy abuser" and we should not buy them for him.

I wonder if peta has ever searched YouTube for African wildlife interactions. Just a quick search on "leopards warthogs" would probably be enough to drive their mental state completely out of the lunatic range into a catatonic insanity state.

That looks good, but I'd do mine without that sauce. I don't like Sriracha. Love cheeseburgers and onions, though. Maybe with ketchup/mustard or Catalina. (Don't knock until you try the latter)

In fact, if you mix Catalina with cream cheese (1/3 less fat tastes best, DONT use fat free. Bleh) , put on individual nacho cheese chips under the broiler in the oven until they brown, it's heaven.

Having been stationed at Fort Johnson (formerly Fort Polk), I can attest that the good ole boys down there do not mess around.
