Good lord, how old are you? 17?

Popular sitcom ran for almost a decade.

Oh, FFS, she was a highly-successful child actor for two decades before she ever HAD a "body."

I haven't watched much TV my whole life. Never watched sitcoms at all. So I've never even heard of this one.

Everyone still saw her as a child actor until Melrose Place, in which she was cast at age 25.

As I recall, there was a lot of skepticism about casting Tony Danza's innocent little daughter as a sexpot.

He joined Texags in 2000 and purchased yearbooks in 81, 82, and 83. He's probably around 61.

Takes about 45 seconds with a premium membership to figure these things out. Turns out in 2023 he claimed to be 61.

I think being that age, it's doubtful he went thru puberty and wasn't aware of Milano. Not impossible though.

Youth sports these days is insane. I was in the vanguard of this movement on a really good soccer team who traveled for weekend tourneys at times back in the late 80s. It's year round now though. We went on a trip with a couple and my buddy is logging into some feed so he can watch his kid play baseball at 0800 on a Sunday morning. F that noise.

Had a guy trip last summer to another buddie's lake house and the rest of his never really saw him because he was watching his daughters play volleyball the entire weekend on the web. He said all of their free time is spent taking his two daughters to volleyball tourneys and sitting in stands watching them. Certainly better than the alternative if your kids are wasting their life but having this consume all of your free time and your kids free time sounds like a miserable life.

We've got a guy at work who is always traveling with his son's baseball team, and they go all over--Arizona, Florida, Texas... He doesn't ask for money, but at the same time, I wonder how much he spends on it, and will it be worth it in the end? I believe much of travel ball is about parents trying to live through their children vicariously and hoping they can push their kids into the major leagues. Baseball is a great game, but it's being ruined for those kids who just want to have fun.
For some, competing at a high level is fun.

Knew it wouldn't be long til muh live vicariously muh...
Have seen it time and time again. Every year or two you would hear some father (they guy with his cap on backwards and his sunglasses upside down on the brim of the cap or around his neck) say something like "there was a scout from the White Sox at Junior's game the other night, said he had never seen a lefty with that much on the ball." lol. If they pressed it, and I got tired of hearing it, I would steer the conversation toward the fact that kid was never going to make it into the major leagues, in fact was not likely to make it in at a major college.

In all my years, we had one kid who could throw 96 or 98 or so, some very high number, I think he spent a couple of years at Old Miss, and he knocked around pro ball for 6 or 7 years and the highest he ever got was American Association ball.

Most of the athletes in baseball and track went to junior colleges or smaller 4 year schools on partial scholarships and after they got into college, the love of the sport faltered a good bit and they quit, and daddy's dream ended.

The GoFundMe is for the entire team, not just her kid.

Maybe the OTHER 15 kids on the team are NOT the offspring of multi-millionaires, and she is taking the lead on fundraising for the TEAM AS A WHOLE due to her name recognition?

No, you do not like her politics, so everything she does is wrong. Do you have any idea how childish that is?

It's not fundraising. It's begging. Had two kids in extremely expensive travel sports. I would be mortified if some assclown parent on a team that my kid was a part of did this. Do you really think Milano has her kid playing with the poor kids?

I have 3 kids on 5 travel teams (both sons are travel baseball + the best wrestling program in California). There is a pretty common denominator amongst the SoCal travel baseball teams from D1-D3 and it's not poor parents.

Dude, how else is Braxxton going to get his JuCo baseball schollie?

Yup. Cayden/Ayden/Brayden/Jayden/Hayden/Cash/Chance gonna be a STAR! Folks will spend thousands of $$, blow out their kids' knees (more thousands of their, or insurance co $$), and send them to a school offering WAY less career options/majors, all hoping to win the "pro athlete lottery". It's really gotten out of hand.

Do you really think they're putting their kid on a team with lolpoors or that parents without the means are going to have their kid playing travel ball? This isn't the Bad News Bears. This is the Yankees.

It's SoCal. If you live there, you're not some lower class plebe scraping by. You're definitely not some lower class plebe scraping by if you're investing the time and money to put your kid on a competitive travel ball team. Don't prehend like these aren't the kids of a bunch of upper class white people you'd **** all over as being "privileged" in any other circumstance.

It's funny how much people here put into stuff like hyper competitive travel ball thinking Junior is doing pro someday and a big chunk of MLB is comprised of guys from poor countries who grew up playing stick ball in the street.
Scotty Appleton

Those MLB players from "poor countries" have been subsidized by MLB from the time they are identified as prospects from 10-11 years old. Playing year round in academy systems. That is why Americans have to counter with travel select teams, or risk being at a disadvantage.

I don't have my sons in it for anything other than giving them the option to play in high school if they want. California puts out more MLB talent than Texas & Florida combined. If your kid wants to play high school he has to play travel out here. It doesn't mean flying all over the country. There are plenty of big tournaments & weekend games within driving distance.

Sports is an avenue to focus young minds.

That is the correct answer
Also team sports can develop a positive cycle where kid works hard gets better
Kid starts understanding getting better requires effort
That being said parents need to leave the refs alone , cheer more & coach less

The reality is that athletes who compete at the highest levels of their sport are genetically gifted. Many, if not most, of them excel at multiple sports, too. No amount of practice or training will get you there unless you have it in your DNA.

One of my favorite points for parents that push their kids into sports. If you aren't a minimum of 6' to 6'2" you have no reason to consider moving forward in sports, regardless of talent.

Quite possibly one of the dumbest things I've ever seen stated on this website. I could list a thousand examples but Barry Sanders is 5' 8" and is the greatest running back in NFL history.

Not to mention the life skills learned being involved to whatever level you make it.

Why bother if you're just gonna be too small to succeed? Better to not try, to spare the disappointment and inevitable failure.

Also applies to winning over women, working hard in a career, etc etc.
