Didn't know which forum to put this.

1996 This guy Davis held knives to a few young ladies necks; never knew this happened.

Apparently the first victim bumped into him at a grocery store and he was apprehended.

Released on bail and ordered to stay with his parents.

6 days before his trial Davis disappeared. (That was at the time of the airing)

Unsolved Mysteries said after they aired the episode, Many years later he was found in Cleveland Ohio and plead guilty to counts of aggravated assault. Sentences to 99 years but may get out on parole in 2030.

Unsolved Mysteries first came out when I was in college at Texas A&M. I always loved that show especially the original with Robert Stack.

I do remember later in the 90s when this one aired. I even still remember the reenactment version. In the grocery store and everything. They definitely filmed. Some of it in college Station because they showed the campus, interviewed some campus cops and I remember showing those big round stone things near the MSC, where in my day people would post fliers.

2030 sounded so far away at that time yet now we're close.

Fun fact. There's also an unsolved mysteries episode from the late 80s or early 90s that's about a murder in Bryan, Texas ironically, that took place in the early 80s or late 70s about a either high school or early college age guy, who saw a man coming down the street in a neighborhood with no pants on and a gun and there were children out playing so he went to go detain the guy and was shot, and eventually died. They did get this scumbag back to the United States and he got sent to prison.

But the interesting part is I saw it years later, and it was Matthew McConaughey playing the part of the young man who got killed. Always interesting When you see someone who became a big star on a smaller show way back when. Of course when I saw it originally, they were just reenactment actors. Gotta start somewhere.

You can still watch the originals on Peacock. And even the other versions of it like when they did it with Dennis Farino, they used some of the original footage.

It wasn't really the music for me. Occasionally they would show some pics of the victims. I swear, and I hate to say this, even supposedly alive (i.e. pre-disappearance, or whatever happened to them), some of the victims looked gruesome. I don't know if the pics were 'shopped for the full effect, but a couple of the older women victim's pics scared the hell out of me.

Showing the pics with the music going on didn't help, of course.

There was a story years ago about some guy working his way through college by acting in crime reenactments on some local news channel. He had a date planned one night with a classmate of his, but when he showed up to pick her up, her father freaked out. I think the father even called the police on the guy after running him off.

My neighbor two houses down was murdered when I was in elementary school. Authorities told my parents that the husband was the main suspect but they didn't have enough to pin it on him. My parents were close to the husband and wife and he would come over all the time talking about how much he missed her. It was the only time my dad owned a gun and the neighbor in between us hired a bodyguard to hang around his house (mowed the lawn, cleaned pool, washed cars and boat to make it look like he was a handyman). I use to go over to the house before the murder and watch the husband practice his bow shooting in the backyard and I'd run down and get the arrows for him. He later moved out of town and I made friends with the new family that moved in. It was creepy as hell going over there knowing how the murder went down. Murder ended up on Unsolved Mysteries and has still gone unsolved.

Long before TV shows, I was True Crime fan and bought books about notorious murders, complet with pictures from the scenes. Lizzie Borden on to Mafia hits.

The blood didn't bother me. But I know the smell would have had I gone in that law enforcement direction.

He comes in at the 40-minute mark in the video below. I recognize the woman playing his mom too. They were both in Bernie together - McConnaughey was the DA while she was Ms Nugent's sister.

That murder happened in Pasadena by Edward Harold Bell who was, interestingly enough, in the Aggie Band (before he started murdering). Bell was also a suspect in a few of the Texas Killing Field murders off of 45 south.

Yep. My brother and I lived on Tauber off of Northgate in 1996. My brother stayed home for a couple of days because Unsolved Mysteries were trying to find people who knew the rapist. Pushing pretty hard. It upset my brother and the other 2 guys who roomed with him for a year now knowing the guy was a rapist.

At the trial my brother and the others that knew him went to see it. The rapist walks in abd sees my brother and the others and the rapists call them out and ask them how they have been smiling. My brother said it was so creepy how this guy is casually asking them questions like everything was alright.

I was at Tarelton in 1993 and vaugely remember him. Used to go to College Station to visit in 1993.

Huh, I thought it was Bryan. There were something related to Bryan in the episode. Maybe he was from there originally?
