Include civil service for the public good. Rebuild roads, mentor veterans and those less fortunate, etc. Every citizen should put something back to the country and enhance the culture.

I'm not a fan of mandatory service but I do often wonder what impact it would have on our obesity rate.

It isn't that white boys (or judging by the overall recruitment difficulties, any color boys) don't want to join the army, it's that they don't want to join THIS army. I can conceive of an army within this country's boundaries that they would join in a heartbeat....

Not so fast. I think the point that was trying to be made was, at one point in time, both sides could at least agree that America should be preserved against foreign enemies. It was the "how" that was usually where the arguments, controversy, and divisiveness ensued.

Not only that, but they've indicated that they are currently governed by DEI. Which means advancement is now much less likely to be merit based but skin color based.

Our current military seems to have the objective that non-POC soldiers have two simple purposes within the military. Take orders, and die.
