Yeah I'm struggling here. I feel like it is meant to be some arbitrary "they are going to make us go backwards" but there isn't any substance presented. It's especially odd coming from someone pretending to dislike the progress the Dems have taken. So Dems have taken us to far one way but you don't want to reset to a time before the current status quo?

Republicans are still not okay with gay marriage. As a point of fact 39 Republicans voted to enshrine this right as federal law in 2022, and 169 voted against. So, its not some arbitrary thing to pretend like the rights of gays are safe and protected in the hands of a freedom loving Republican party.

As Prager said "Liberals are not the Left, they just vote for them"

Cisgendered is a slur. I'm going to bring that up in the next DEI meeting I have to endure.

It seems like a lot of people don't actually have any strong political opinions and just treat politics like sports where they have a favorite team and a hated rival. I've seen too many cases of "A liberal/conservative was mean to me and so now I've switched not only political parties but also my opinion on every single political issue on which they differ."

It wouldn't take much to convince me the Democratic Party sucks, but that doesn't make me any less of a liberal on the issues.

And I'd be willing to bet OP's views never actually changed over the years. The ones around him just made him appear to move to the right.
