Yeah, you probably need to re-assess what you think you are. One of the core principals of conservatism is freedom for the individual. Freedom to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If you have now changed your position on abortion to support it, you are not a conservative. You're denying an individual the right to life. Self reflect harder.

You will catch hell from some here and I am sure you will still have things that start to pull you back but the first step is the hardest. I hope you keep an open mind and realize that in the end there are some crap people on both sides and there are very, very few pols that are even remotely trustworthy and the same for the media.

The biggest problem I have seen with the Dem Party in the last 20 years is they have moved from being the Liberal Party to being the Leftist Party. Liberals want to work within the system to push for issues they believe in but they don't fundamentally hate people on the other side. Leftists want to destroy the system and eliminate anyone that disagrees with them. I like to debate and argue with Liberals but Leftists are dangerous people.

Good OP. My 12 year old daughter sat next to a dude on yesterday's flight (Southwest unassigned seats) that was dressed as a woman. First thing she wanted to talk about as we hopped off. I asked her if she was sure and she said "yep, total dude. I could see where he missed shaving some spots"

The current dim party wants us all to pretend that things like biology don't matter, just feelings from sick people. I'd rather teach my kids to trust their own instincts and challenge stupidity on its face.

Proud of my little girl. I was also relieved to see a girls soccer team on the plane that were all fit, chipper and feminine. Great athletes can be feminine too and that's a role model I love for her.

Actually my position on abortion has gone from being more ambivalent on abortion to being more pro life. My parents were conservative for instance except on abortion. Why? My Mom was a nurse in South Carolina prior to Roe. She saw many women who actually had coat hanger abortions and worse and what happened to them. As much as she loved babies and life she did not want women going out and doing that because they felt they had no other option. That stuck with me. I now see that argument as flawed in the current world for a number of reasons and that most of the Pro Choice arguments really don't hold up.

Maybe you should self reflect on your own assumptions about others my friend.

When I see folks like that I don't feel anger I feel pity. I know they almost certainly are very damaged people and something led them down that path. I know they are unlikely to ever find the type of happiness I have in life and I hope they are able to resolve it for themselves.

Pity doesn't mean I cry for them or think they aren't responsible for their own choices. It doesn't mean I feel the need to humor them. I just look at them and think they are mentally ill but there is not much I can do about it unless they want help. I won't condone them but if they want to dress up and act like idiots so be it, as long as they don't expect me to accept them or they don't try to push it on kids. They have been less and less willing to do that last part though and they are starting to get more and more blowback as they should. No clue where that all ends up but I do now it won't end up with happiness for them because you can only get that from yourself not from what others think.

Couldn't agree more. When I debriefed with my daughter, I stressed the same thing. This is someone that needs help and is getting the wrong guidance. Not something to laugh about but to feel some pity.
