I had a similar thought until I took a look at their economy and runaway inflation. They have had epidemics of kidnapping-for-ransom in which anybody who appeared to have money was fair game. Good food, though.

As a State Senator Whitmire knows State and local governance. The state and the cities work closely together and as political subdivisions of the state the cities are governed by state law.

SJL knows none of this.

I heard clips from their last "debate.". Her answered revolved around brining in federal partners, courting federal dollars, and federal this and that. She would have had big daddy Washington all up in the cities and therefore the region and the states business.

I was kind of hoping she would win just because she would resign her house seat and get the margin back to what it was before Santos was kicked out last week.

It is far from perfect but we are moving back to Mexico. The proximity and familiarity of culture is easier to manage. Flights back and forth are cheap etc.

However, we are not looking for a place that is "better" per se. Our goal is to take advantage of my remote work and save money, while living in a place we enjoy.
