Well, it's really not a very nice thing to say, but I am so sick of this piece of crap and the Democrats ruining our country, especially when you know no meaningful punishment will ever happen to him. At least in this life.

I get the sentiment but things would get exponentially worse.

If Biden drops dead he will become, in all of the idiots' eyes, an incredibly kind, smart, loving, and fantastic president. So much legislation would be shoved through Congress on the heels of his death because "Joe wanted it so!" that a cackling Kamala would sign.

1) The prices of drugs in the U.S. are 2.5 times to 5 times that of Europe. Why?
2) There are provisions to keep EU drugs from coming into the U.S. just to protect the price discrimination. Why?
3) The examination process of patents in the EU is way more strict than the US.
4) Medicaid is the only government entity in the world that can't directly negotiate the price of drugs.
5) We have new therapies, including therapies for HepC and sickle cell anemia that are going to cost US consumers / insurance companies $200k to $2.2 million a year. Who do you think is most affected by sickle cell anemia?
6) This is just a case of pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered. The game is shifted so far in big pharma's favor, that they cry foul if they are not able to get the US government to force you to buy their products under the penalty of losing your job, and getting provided blanket immunity for their product. Charging $2.2 million per year for an effective sickle cell anemia product is just donkey stupid. What did they think was going to happen?
7) The current big pharma program is one of the top 5 largest wealth transfer program in the world. Look at your monthly medical insurance premium. Now think about the quality of your health care compared to what you got 10 years ago. A huge chunk of that money is being transferred to poorer people in the US and middle class people in EU.
8) I don't give two ****s about big pharma and their complaints about patent crap, and patent investing is my living. Level the playing field of the industry first. If you are going to host Darth Vader in your cloud city in order to get it rich, don't get surprised when they alter the deal, and warn you about altering it further.

Why exactly is it a stupid point that taxpayer funds should come with taxpayer benefits?

I have to agree here with Mal. The military started to develop the internet in the sixties, of course with taxpayers money. And now we have to buy broadband from providers.
The early funding for the Internet was from DARPA and the first connection between two computers on what was to become the Internet was in the mid to latter 1960s. The Internet was mostly military related into the early 1990s, I think. By the mid early 1990s, there were a few ISPs.

I haven't read the article.

In his proposal to take the patents, is it to allow other companies to use the patents without paying royalties or does he want to make the patents available to all drug companies with the payment of some set royalty rate?

Just curious.
