I was too young to remember her as a First Lady but seemed like a genuinely good person.
She was indeed. The Carters were the last Democrats in the executive that truly loved the country. Unfortunately, Jimmy had a lot of poor ideas but he was a good man and Rosalyn a good First Lady.45-70Ag said:

She had dementia so part of willing himself to hang on for her likely has been a factor. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if he follows shortly.Kenneth_2003 said:
Think Jimmy will be soon behind her?
RIP Ma'am
Most likely cancer; he was diagnosed with it some years ago, and it was treated and in remission, but at his age, would not be a surprise if it came back.45-70Ag said:

At one point he had a brain tumor, IIRC.45-70Ag said:

Yep, I went and looked it up and edited my post about the time you were posting.pimplepopper said:Metastatic melanoma IIRCRapier108 said:Most likely cancer; he was diagnosed with it some years ago, and it was treated and in remission, but at his age, would not be a surprise if it came back.45-70Ag said:

She outlasted her husband, who has been on hospice care for some months now.
Those two have had some impressive longevity. RIP Mrs. Carter.

She just entered hospice a couple of days ago. Jimmy has been in hospice care for most of this year.

Meh, she stood loyally by her bigoted, hateful husband, so she was pretty loyal, I will give her that.Tanya 93 said:aggiehawg said:Not to speak ill of the recently deceased but she did have her moments of bitterness.Quote:

And you don't?
Literally, she died.
Do you want people to say you just were so bitter when you die?
She was a good woman.
There is no reason for this.

One of the things I've worked on as I've gotten older is when to not speak at all.

There is plenty to say about Jimmy Carter -- mediocre President and a disaster as a former President -- but I don't remember anything about him being bigoted and hateful.nortex97 said:Meh, she stood loyally by her bigoted, hateful husband, so she was pretty loyal, I will give her that.Tanya 93 said:aggiehawg said:Not to speak ill of the recently deceased but she did have her moments of bitterness.Quote:
