9 passed by a huge margin

You're clearly in the minority on that one Mr. Tea Party. 84% of voters supported Prop 9. As of right now, more people supported Prop 9 than the property tax break in Prop 4, that's how popular Prop 9 is.
I am happy to be in the minority in this case, at least I can read history. The System said:

It didn't raise taxes.Tea Party said:The System said:

I know I'm in the minority. But congrats on you helping the looting and the degradation of our society.
The System always wins in the long run when the system is based on greed and corruption.
I lost count how many people falsely advertised Prop 9 as great because it doesn't raise taxes. The sheeple eart up that kind of misinformation.
The correct advertisement should have been that voting for Prop 9 makes it incredibly harder to reduce taxes in the future, but that's not something The System wants the people to hear.
I digress. Enjoy your loot.
A whole lot of people apparently voted to give the largesse to other people...since I doubt 84% of the voters were retired teachers.Furious said:
It didn't raise taxes, but it spends our overtaxed "surplus" and gives it to special groups.
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage."

This was idiotic.
But congrats on selfishly robbing our treasury with your vote rather than demanding tax reductions for everyone later since they clearly are taxing us too much in the general fund.
Lol, hyperbole much??Tea Party said:The System said:

I never claimed it raised taxes nor claimed it would reduce taxes, now.Ag with kids said:It didn't raise taxes.Tea Party said:The System said:

Explain to us how you think it does.

Prop 9 is honoring a commitment the state made to teachers. "You work for fairly low pay, and we'll cover your retirement." A COLA increase isn't some nefarious act.
You want to gripe about taxes, look to the property tax carve out bills.

Props 2 and 10 just make me shake my head - but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
But it just goes to prove that the majority opinion on TexAgs in no way reflects the people of Texas.
Could also be read as "Teachers have been underpaid for years so let's use the surplus to partially remedy that embarrassment for them in retirement."Quote:
You should instead be advertising it as, Texas taxes it's citizens too much and has a surplus. Instead of lowering taxes in the future, we want to keep taxes high and use the excess to give handouts to people we like such as retired teachers in this instance.
