As a note, we're treaty obligated to defend the Philippines.

China could make a move here and force us to make a choice.

Definitly looked like the Philippine ship was set up.

"We" may be treaty obligated but since the CCP is the paymaster of the Biden crime familia I am not sure it really matters what the treaty says.

PI has all but kicked us flags ships off the pier at the old subic navy pier in favor of Chinese cruise ships.

Also that little boat looks more like a ferry or something than any resupply boat. Is there any evidence that shows thst it is a vessel of the Philippines navy?

This whole thing looks like a big what to do over nothing

Also looks like the supply boat was going straight and the Chines vessel was turning into her.

No $$ to any of them. Time they stand or fall "on their own". No more US blood or treasure except on US soil on behalf of US citizens.

Might want to ask McArthur about letting the Philippines stand on their own.

This type of thing happens weekly. China tries to ram ships, uses water cannons, harass Filipino ships, deny resupply of Filipinos in the Spratt islands etc. China is the bully here but will claim to be the victim. The US, Philippines, Australia, Japan, and Canada have all been doing exercises together this year. The US is also expanding bases in the Philippines.

Not sure the Filipino boat had a choice. The first video looks like the chinese boats attacked the Philipino boat in a pincher move.

We're probably sending money to Russia too for humanitarian aid. I'm obviously joking but we're clearly the dumbest country ever.

We're Israel's ally but we help finance Iran and we send money to Hamas.

I just can't watch any of this as an American any more. It's like rooting for your football team once it's transparent the whole coaching staff has bet against their own team.

All I can do is follow along as a disinterested neutral party from now on and try to laugh at the stupidity, my country is dead.

Potential crisis in South China Sea
. . .
It's not a big deal, but I kind of like that it's infuriating to China to use the names the other relevant countries use for the waters by their shores given the whole 9 dash thing and the implication in SCS that it's all China's sea, including the islands and natural resources, regardless of how close they may be to the other countries in the region.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_China_Sea

Quote:

. . .
However, following an escalation of the Spratly Islands dispute in 2011, various Philippine government agencies started using the name West Philippine Sea. A Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) spokesperson said that the sea to the east of the Philippines will continue to be called the Philippine Sea.[14] In September 2012, Philippine President Benigno Aquino III signed Administrative Order No. 29, mandating that all government agencies use the name West Philippine Sea to refer to the parts of South China Sea within the Philippines exclusive economic zone, including the Luzon Sea as well as the waters around, within and adjacent to the Kalayaan Island Group and Bajo de Masinloc, and tasked the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority to use the name in official maps.[15][16]

In July 2017, to assert its sovereignty, Indonesia renamed the northern reaches of its exclusive economic zone in the South China Sea as the North Natuna Sea, which is located north of the Indonesian Natuna Islands, bordering southern Vietnam exclusive economic zone, corresponding to southern end of South China Sea.[17] The "Natuna Sea" is located south of Natuna Island within Indonesian territorial waters.[18] Therefore, Indonesia has named two seas that are portions of South China Sea; the Natuna Sea located between Natuna Islands and the Lingga and Tambelan Archipelagos, and the North Natuna Sea located between the Natuna Islands and Cape C Mau on the southern tip of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam.
. . .
FWIW Huangyan Island (in the OP's tweet in the latter part of the 280 characters) is what we call Scarborough Shoal, and you can see why China thinks it should be theirs given its proximity between the Philippines and China (all but unpictured but for the red nub). That's Vietnam hugging the coast over on the left.

I know this thread was more of a WWIII thing, but it's been going on for quite some time (edited - as several other posters already noted). China's dredging up artificial islands for military bases has been pretty impressive.

Cool...no. Not an isolationist, but no longer an "interventionist". Our govt. has lied (Tonkin Bay/WMD's, etc.) and "misused" our young men too many times and it has become SOP. We've gained nothing in return and spent/lost far more than our fair share. Viet Nam vet here and have witnessed too much abuse by our 'so called' leaders, who seemingly only care about the $$ that can be pocketed by our participation in foreign conflicts.

ETA - IMHO, our leaders are not concerned about your and my safety, BUT ARE interested in "how much" ($$) can be garnered by your and my son's being put in harms way. SCREW THAT! Time to wise up to their real intentions.

That's not my question..we have a mutual defense treaty obligation with the Philippines.

My question is...if the Philippines are attacked by the PRC should we ignore our treaty obligation with them and let the PRC achieve their aims?
