This made me chuckle.

In 1989, my Infantry platoon put on a Humvee with mounted TOW missile exhibit at the Anchorage, AK Fur Rendezvous. We walked around a bit to take a look at all of the exhibits. There was some great stuff there. One exhibit had foods prepared for sampling. I tried three and the last one induced a pretty strong gag reflex.

The first was a moose stew...gamey but alright. The second was bear jerky...not as good a beef jerky. The third was bear stew (harvested during hyper****ia). I remember the guy telling us that he shot the bear with a .454 Kasul when he was trout fishing. I think the bear was danger close...so good shoot. Personally, I would have pulled line and moved swiftly out of the AO. Holy crow...that bear stew was fat, greasy, gamey, stinky...just nasty. True survival foods if you can choke it down.

Cabra is tough and stringy. It needs to be cooked low and slow, and for a long time.
