Al Aqsa 'martyrs' brigade lost a few chaps overnight in a daylight, umm, shooting;

Undercover Israeli forces opened fire on a car in the West Bank city of Nablus, killing five terror suspects, authorities said Wednesday.

Among those killed in the broad daylight shooting near central Nablus was the long-sought leader of the Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade terror group in the nearby Balata refugee camp, according to police. He was named in reports as Issam al-Salaj.

The Israel Police said commandos from the Yamam counter-terror unit had been operating in Nablus when they opened fire on the terror suspects.

"The Yamam forces eliminated five armed terrorists who posed a threat to their lives," police said.
According to police, the unit had been in Nablus as part of an arrest operation targeting terror suspects, backed by the Israel Defense Forces, Shin Bet security service and Border Police force.


Well, that's just a shame.

I'm sure they have moles. But more generally, I'm guessing they've been able to follow the leadership for a while for probably a variety of reasons (human intel, GPS monitoring, sat surveillance, etc). Only difference is Israel is now no longer beholden to world opinion. They used to pull their punches. No more. So now the terrorist brass are being taken out on an almost hourly basis. And my guess is word is getting back to the appropriate places that they could have done this at literally any time they wanted for years. It was only their benevolence that prevented it. Gotta make for some nervy terrorists who now must be questioning literally everything.

Hez and Hamas almost certainly have no structured counter espionage capabilities.

How can they? They are under violent attack day and night. Counter espionage takes a thorough examination of common leaks, tracking, electronic surveillance - all things they just aren't in a position to do right now.

They know their organizations leak like a sieve but no structured way to track down the leaks.

Hez - that's easy - they're in Lebanon and there's no shortage of Lebanese who hate Hez. The Christians don't want all out civil war again. But hey - if the Jews wanna take out my Muslim fellow countrymen, who am I to object?

Hamas is a little tougher - 0 Christians and/or Jews in Gaza. But there is 0 infrastructure left in that country and Israel can have their way with them.

If Hamas' leadership leaked so badly, they did a masterful job in concealing their Oct. 7 attack.
Of course, the Israelis ignored their own junior analysts who reported numerous probing and testing of the Gaza wall, so that helped Hamas immensely.

I think he's trolling, but if so it's a good one. Earlier one of the Hamas people did accuse Iran and not Israel of assassinating the Hamas guy in Tehran. They all may be turning on each other.

Again, the gold is not destroyed. Just needs to be dug up, again, and refined.
Since you are picking nits -- I will as well. It actually doesn't say that the gold was destroyed. It says the "gold reserves were destroyed."

The meaning here, is that they had a great big cache of gold, probably neatly stacked in secure locations inside buildings, bunkers, etc. Well, now, you see, those neat stacks are no more because the containers they were in got blowed up. So while the gold still exists, it's a little more difficult to handle.
