Exactly right. It sounds beautiful to me.

The right folks, fwiw, are crying about Qatar being 'in on it.' This is fine.

Notifying is not the same as getting approval or authorizing... not that Israel needs our approval. The usual suspects so horny to get the US involved in never ending wars.

Good Trump to slap Israel on the wrist.

Take that with a pile of salt.

Ian Miles Cheong is one of the most community noted people on Twitter for all the false/fake stuff he posts.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

This guy does some good reporting, but no way this is true lol. Qatar could have put them anywhere else, in this scenario, and they chose their capital city? Yea, not buying it.

Israel absolutely needs our approval to do this. Or at least, in a just world where we had sovereignty, they would. Trump isn't going to do anything to Israel and in fact he probably greenlit this strike

Nah. I don't think so. Israel will do what it wants. We haven't said anything when they strike inside of Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, etc. because we are probably involved in those and those are currently mutual adversaries. Qatar, along with SA, is a strategic US ally in the region.

That statement from White House is essentially:

This was not the most ideal way to do it, but glad Israel did what had to be done

I am old enough to remember when BARACK OBAMA had US military forces invade a sovereign nation of Pakistan to kill Osama Bin Laden with two shots to the head

Doha is pretty much the only city in Qatar. 80% of the population is there.

Dang... looks like a bad take.

More indication we did not authorize or greenlight this strike. Should be even more clear that Israel doesn't and never wanted a ceasefire.

Good Trump. Bad Israel.

Exactly. Why would you ok a strike on your own nations largest and "only" city?

Hamas would've said no, just as they did to the last one amd the one before that, and the one before that. Maybe the new leaders will be more amenable to the terms and/or realize that hamas' time is done

The WH is not happy: MORE

"Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a sovereign nation and close ally of the United States that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker peace does not advance Israel or America's goals," Leavitt said from the podium at her press briefing."

You don't know that. They were in the final stages of a ceasefire right before Israel took out the whole building in which it was being discussed.

You and just about everyone else on this thread are under the assumption Israel WANTS a ceasefire. They do not. Trump was clear from the onset of NO NEW WARS. He is clearly trying to end the killing over there and not getting us involved is first and most important step for that. That is also why he and all the other Gulf States have been pressing and negotiating for a ceasefire.

I dont think Israel wants a ceasefire. Nothing ive read or listened to indicates that. They want hamas gone.

You should turn your disappointment on Qatar for harboring and protecting the leaders of hamas for the last decade. They are not a friendly party here

I was saying it was pretty clear Qatar didn't greenlight and Israeli airstrike on its own capital city.

I'm disappointed in war horny stooges advocating and fist pumping us getting involved in Israel's forever war, and Israel.

Also, very happy with the Trump admin's response, though it's much to the chagrin of many of the posters on this thread.

Do you think the Qataris would ever admit to approving this? Not a chance. Ever.

But would they? Probably if doing so brings different Hamas leadership with different willingness to sign an agreement to the table.

As said on this or another thread, the Qataris have some of the most advanced aerial monitoring capabilities in the world (largely thanks to us). They didn't make a single move to stop the Israelis.

Whether they openly approved of it or not, they certainly let it happen.

And I'm saying your reasoning is flawed because their capital city is basically the only city in their tiny country so that's where pretty much any visitor will be. (Except expat labor of course)
