Investigators confirm over 115 decomposing bodies were found inside a Fremont County funeral home. Now, multiple agencies are working together to mitigate the possible hazardous situation they have on their hands and asking loved ones of possible victims to come forward.

That's insane. And "over 115", how many over? 121, 133? Why would they say it that way, did they stop at 115 and say well there are some more over there?

And I wonder how come none of the families had created an uproar. No urn of ashes, no body in a casket, etc. you would think someone would have raised hell. Had it been 4 or 5, perhaps John Does or Jane Does, or indigents, nobody would have been the wiser. But 115+ is a different story.

I assume they all had COVID and were still contagious

Abandoned by family. My uncle still hasn't been buried since May because his wife can't afford it. Long story, he's burning.

Good thing they have the vax shot records in their pockets so they are safe and covid wasn't as bad as it could've been.

when the remains are all mushed together in a decomposing pile it's probably not simple to tell what is a body and what is not

They moved the headstones, but they left the bodies!

This was one of those "green burial" businesses, that is exploiting the environmental nutball fad, and that had no idea by what means and how long it takes to dispose of human corpses in high volume. It is a fraud, and the fraudsters probably just fled at some point.

The name of the funeral home is return to nature - I wonder what happened inside (duh). Progressives are idiots. Ever hear of ashes to ashes, dust to dust? If you want to be green cremate yourself.

I bet those bodies aren't masked which is why it's hazardous.

Embalming is dumb anyway. What's the point of making someone that's dead look not dead?

It made sense before refrigeration but now it's just chemicalized mummification. On the bright side we've got millions of chemically preserved folks leaching lord knows what into the groundwater.

Embalming fluids are mostly formaldehyde & methanol/ethanol. Both break down pretty quickly in soil so the chances of accumulating in ground water are very low to non-existent. But yeah, cremation is the sensible way to dispose of remains.

Modern day embalming, sure. But what about older methodologies?

Until the early 20th century, arsenic was usually used as an embalming fluid, until it was discovered that less toxic chemicals could be used. In 1867, the German chemist August Wilhelm von Hofmann discovered formaldehyde and its power to preserve. This discovery eventually spurred formaldehyde's use as the foundational chemical for modern methods of embalming.
Embalming

Looks like formaldehyde has been the choice for at least the last 100 years. Old school arsenic would be a problem but I'm guessing any past use has already been mitigated somewhat

Sorry for your loss, but cremation should be the standard. Why spend thousands of dollars on a fancy aluminum box, a small plot of land and big ceremony? Cremation is the way to go.

Uh literally all those things happen a ton with cremation too, just a smaller box

So if I'm burned to a crisp in a crash I'm toast…so to speak.

I still don't understand why we as a people do idiotic things like embalm people and then stuff them into holes in hundreds of acres worth of prime earth better utilized as parks or ag use than letting aunt Edna and daddy rot.

Burn it or utilize multi use burials … anything is better than this idea that mamma died so we need to pump her full of nasty chemicals to preserve her just long enough for everyone to stare at her dead body and say "she looks good"….it's dumb.

In two generations, no one is going to even know where your headstone is or care.

And save a crap ton of money that the family would be better off having

Yeah, I checked and we are down to 11 acres of prime earth.

Ag use? lol. There are millions and millions of acres available for ag use, but few willing to take the plunge, and for good reason.

I've also struggled with this thought process. Then I read what happens to the body when it is buried. Go ahead and Google it. It is somewhat ghastly and just might persuade you to request cremation.

With a somewhat sarcastic bent, one could say that God may have an easier time resurrecting a cremated body than one that has turned into microbial, gaseous soup that is eventually absorbed into the earth.

Would seem that if God can do one, God could do the other as well.
