Turns out it's a mental illness. Who knew.

I've found as a casual observer that most detransitioners are females. I think it's because they get swept up in the emotions of it while looking for a way to hide from puberty and then they eventually realize it wasn't what they thought it would be.

The guys who transition appear to be rooted in fetish or in just not being able to live up to male expectations. The one thing they have in common is a seething hatred/resentment of women and the desire to control others (because they're narcissists). They are very demanding, smug, and entitled. There seem to be a lot more MtF than FtM.

According to #trans activists, transition is about changing your appearance to reflect your inner self. That's crap.Five minutes in the #mtf subreddit is all it takes to see that for them, it's about the destruction of the old self and the creation of the new, autogynephilic fantasy self.

They all have an ideal in their heads that they want to become, not an identity they want to express, and it's almost always rooted in deep-seated #misogyny. These men want to be ****s, bimbos, sissies, *****es - in a word, sex objects - and because they already see #women that way, women are what they seek to become.

It's not a genuine identity, though. It's a fantasy, so it rings hollow when they're alone and it isn't being reinforced. They know deep down that they're men, and that they always will be.

That's why they want everyone else to "affirm" them, and to "validate their identity" by treating them like women. They want to live out their fantasy full-time, but if they're the only ones playing along, it's impossible to maintain the "euphoria" they get from the game. Real identities don't require outside validation.

Forcing society to accept these trans-identifying men as "women" reinforces in their minds the illusion they've created of being the ideal female self; if everyone else treats them like women, it's easier for them to think of themselves that way, easier to access that "gender euphoria" that only trans people ever seem to experience.

The problems with this are legion. Not only are they trying to force everyone to change their speech, and demanding access to women's spaces and events; they're doing nothing less than trying to coerce an entire society to participate - non-consensually - in their public acting out of their sexual fantasies.

Whereas in earlier decades, a man having a midlife crisis would buy a sports car and divorce his wife for a younger woman, today's midlife crisis appears to consist of putting on women's clothing, changing your name, and convincing your long-suffering wife to "become a lesbian" with you.

The fact that most new older transitioners are male, while most younger ones are female, tells the same story. Older men are seeking new means of objectifying themselves, while young women desperately try to rid themselves of those characteristics that lead to their own objectification.

Until we as a society can stop treating women like objects, there will continue to be perverted men who want to mimic them and be objectified - and there will be women who see being a man as the only way to escape it.

I don't trust Vivek, but he absolutely nailed the debate question on this.
1. It's the result of a mental illness that causes suicide.
2. There's nothing "compassionate" about affirming a lie.
3. Facilitating the transition of kids is child abuse.
