"I was out of the closet, but in many ways, my head was still enveloped in "straight logic." I held onto the misconception that other gay men were either the object of my desire or, in the case of a girlfriend's other gay best friend, naturally, my competition. There was no middle ground."

"At a time when masculinity is being re-examined, it seems America has never been more divided on the definition of "real masculinity" a definition I've grappled with myself. I've found clarity in two places we seem to be looking last: the next generation and the queer men who blazed their trail."

"Gen Z is setting their own rules for 'real masculinity'

At the end of last semester, I asked my freshman critical writing class at Pace University in Manhattan whether they believed that our culture was witnessing a "crisis of masculinity." Most argued that men were notin crisis, citing the economic and socioeconomic privileges that come with being a white man. They defended their case by citing how other groups, like people of color and LGBTQ+ communities, have seen their rights taken away in real time.

"I think those are the people really in crisis," one of my students lamented after citing the recent passing of anti-drag, anti-trans legislation."

"What straight men could learn from queer men aside from a host of stylistic, hygienic and sex tips is to have a greater zeal and lust for life. What we're seeing from the misery of men is the product of patriarchal conditioning. While we know straight white men are the beneficiaries of our capitalist patriarchy, they are also unknowingly victims of it. "

According to this guy, Harry Styles and Shawn Mendes represent new "real masculinity".

How can people be so clueless. Put those guys in a life making 50-60k, working mines, plumbing, construction, grinding out a living day after day.

I wouldn't want to be growing up today. Men are just as expendable to society as they always have been (wars, dangerous jobs, relentless provider demands, etc.) But in the past there was a respect conveyed for men's sacrifices. Today men experience all of the burdens and few of the benefits of being a man.

Shock/glam rock anti-establishmentarian artist and performer types weren't trying to be masculine. They were trying to seek attention and provoke, in their day. Not really a great example, and I was never sure why that style caught on for some rock musicians.

Yeah, masculinity isn't ever going to be redefined along more feminine tropes and stereotypes no matter how much the left stamps their feet over it. It's just not where the majority of males find satisfaction and interest and purpose. Why do outliers keep demanding the entirety of culture be re-centered around themselves for their own selfish comfort and convenience? If you are an outlier, enjoy that role, don't resent it it or bully others into conforming to your own demands.

Is that why they tried to bed 2-3 women a night after concerts?

I dunno, I guess the chicks liked it back then. I never once thought of it as a masculine look. It was intended to be attention grabbing and outlandish.

Based on my observation out here in the suburbs, I am gaining optimism. HS aged males seem generally more muscular and physically fit than ever before, with many of them almost embracing a similar look to what our dads sported in the 80's. If these dudes are being indoctrinated, and I am sure they are, it seems to be having pretty much the opposite effect. It is definitely not cool to be a feminine sissy. I don't think it's ever been less cool actually. There is going to be some type of reckoning or hard correction at some point. At least in certain communities/states.

The crazy part is while young males are trending solidly to the right, young women are trending equally to the left. The future is going to be interesting.

This sounds like the start of another effort by the woke dumbasses to try to redefine another word. In this case, "Masculinity". They'll define "real" masculinity to align with their queer ideology. "Real" men like to have crying sessions with each other and love dating trans people or some **** like that.

And my almost 15 year old son who starts offense and defense on the Freshman Football A team walked off the field Thursday night bleeding turf burns and black and blue after slugging it out against A&M Consol. I think he'd break this pansy's neck by looking at him sideways.

I don't get it. The good news is it's likely they won't breed.

Those dudes were banging their way through harems of gorgeous women. Not condoning or promoting such behavior or hedonistic lifestyle, but typically effeminate betas aren't scoring with hot chicks left and right like those dudes were.

The rock bands of the 80s were almost all-late Boomers (but we'll keep Slash since he was born after 1964.)

Gen-X also brought you most of the great music from the 90s from grunge to all the hip-hip rap gods like Dr. Dre, Tupak, Snoop, Eminem and every genre in between.

aggie93 can probably back me up on this.

It's a split. I have two (almost 18 and almost 15) and they are good boys, athletic, hunt, shoot, go to church, don't drink, workout like madmen, have disciplined high protein diets, and do good in school. Manliness is a virtue among them and their peers. It brings my wife and I so much joy, not going to lie.

The flip side is the colored hair lumps. They are essentially choosing extinction. It's literally why the left needs unfettered third world illegal immigration. Lib men are not going to create future democrat voters.

Yeah, sissy boys are definitely much more open about it these days than back when I was in school in the 90's, but I think a much larger % of young males than people realize are embracing traditional masculinity. Kids generally tend to be pretty "anti-establishment" at those ages...how much easier is it to be anti-establishment when the establishment is telling you that you'd be better off being more like women, or the gay or trans or furry kids who eat in the courtyard and you're a bigot if you disagree, or that men can get pregnant, and you and people like you are the greatest scourge to ever exist upon this earth? Pretty easy.

What a weird statement because that's pretty much human nature. Logic doesn't always apply.

Queer people are their own community that is trying to eradicate masculine gay men.

My wife and I watched Modern Family for several years then grew bored with it (too formulaic) and stopped watching. We ran out of shows so we've been trying to finish out the last few seasons as of recent.

I still contend the writing on this show is pretty darn good, almost on par with The Office. The gay male married couple are legit funny. It's pretty hard not to like Cam and Mitchell. But even though Cam has his redneck side and coaches football, they are still both portrayed as so non masculine. And the other gay men they interact with are always so flamey.

If you want to point the finger I would point it at Hollywood. Liberal Hollywood builds that stereotype more than anything.

We should have NEVER let the open promotion of homosexuality become a norm in this country.

How is participating in anal sex with another man in any way 'masculine' ?

Yep. There are certainly Beta males out there but there are a lot of guys who are wide awake to what they are facing. The system is very much against young white males and some are getting tougher not softer. My main concern for them is finding a woman with her head halfway screwed on straight. They are rare.
