https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/privacynotincluded/articles/its-official-cars-are-the-worst-product-category-we-have-ever-reviewed-for-privacy/

Quote:

1. They collect too much personal data (all of them)

2. Most (84%) share or sell your data

3. Most (92%) give drivers little to no control over their personal data

4. We couldn't confirm whether any of them meet our Minimum Security Standards

Renault was ranked best and Tesla (surprise! LOL not) was ranked worse.

Quote:

Tesla is only the second product we have ever reviewed to receive all of our privacy "dings." (The first was an AI chatbot we reviewed earlier this year.) What set them apart was earning the "untrustworthy AI" ding. The brand's AI-powered autopilot was reportedly involved in 17 deaths and 736 crashes and is currently the subject of multiple government investigations.

Bottom line is a big Nope. Governments and companies spy by buying info on the open market. Buyer beware.
Trump will fix it.

Don't let this become another Tesla thread...

Here is what Nissan says they collect: https://www.nissanusa.com/privacy.html
  • Identifiers such as: a real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, account name, or other similar identifiers
  • Commercial information, including: records of personal property, products or services, purchased, obtained, or considered, or records of other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information, including, but not limited to, browsing history, search history, and information regarding a consumer's interaction with a website, application, or advertisement
  • Geolocation data
  • Inferences drawn from any Personal Data collected to create a profile about a consumer reflecting the consumer's preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes
  • Sensitive personal information, including driver's license number, national or state identification number, citizenship status, immigration status, race, national origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, sexual activity, precise geolocation, health diagnosis data, and genetic information.

Intelligence? Health diagnosis data? Sexual Orientation and Activity?

why act surprised.

Elon has already stated he intends to collect and aggregate all of your personal data on X.

and your car provides a whole hell of a lot of interesting, marketable personal data.

Elon is not your friend.

He makes good products.

But he is not your friend.

Is that just sexual activity with the Nissan or is it all sexual activity?

Tesla is still the worst.
Trump will fix it.

Yeah. But I disagree with the rankings.

They are ranked by number of "Dings" in categories and Tesla is the only car manufacturer entering the "AI category" where they dinged it for being "untrustworthy". On the other hand, Nissan gets a special mention for the creepiest categories of data. Tesla also has provisions for opting-out and deleting your data, but Nissan has none.

  • Tesla is only the second product we have ever reviewed to receive all of our privacy "dings." (The first was an AI chatbot we reviewed earlier this year.) What set them apart was earning the "untrustworthy AI" ding. The brand's AI-powered autopilot was reportedly involved in 17 deaths and 736 crashes and is currently the subject of multiple government investigations.

  • Nissan earned its second-to-last spot for collecting some of the creepiest categories of data we have ever seen. It's worth reading the review in full, but you should know it includes your "sexual activity." Not to be out done, Kia also mentions they can collect information about your "sex life" in their privacy policy. Oh, and six car companies say they can collect your "genetic information" or "genetic characteristics." Yes, reading car privacy policies is a scary endeavor.

Tesla autopilot is untrustworthy. The only thing even worse at driving is humans. We killed almost 40,000 each year and as for privacy, my ex girlfriends were horrendous.

Tesla isn't a car company, it's a data collection company. When we go auto-pilot on all cars one day, who do you think will have the most information on roads, driving patterns, etc.
