https://www.marijuanamoment.net/top-federal-health-agency-says-marijuana-should-be-moved-to-schedule-iii-in-historic-recommendation-to-dea/#google_vignette

Quote:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is officially recommending that marijuana be moved from Schedule I to Schedule III under federal lawa historic development that means the top health agency no longer considers cannabis to be a drug with high abuse potential and no medical value.
After completing a scientific review into cannabis under a directive from President Joe Biden last year, HHS is now telling the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) that it believes marijuana should be placed in Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The recommendation is not binding, and DEA has the final say, but the scientific analysis combined with growing political support for cannabis reform may well influence DEA to make the change.

Facts and evidence seem to support a change to a less restrictive class. Isn't cocaine schedule 2 while marijuana is schedule 1? Unbelievable.

Who gives a ***** Honestly. We've got bigger issues going on in this country than legalizing pot.

Yeah, it's a plant and it should be legal. But it's so far down the priority list it might as well not even be on it.

Trump should've done this. MJ being scheduled higher than Meth is stupid and would've been a super easy pre-election fix which would've provided a black approval bump. Hate to see team blue score points which could've been had effortlessly by team red.

Schedule III-

The following findings are required for drugs to be placed in this schedule:

The drug or other substance has a potential for abuse less than the drugs or other substances in schedules I and II.

The drug or other substance has a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.

Abuse of the drug or other substance may lead to moderate or low physical dependence or high psychological dependence.

Extremely reasonable.

Just be glad they don't relegate it to the status of tobacco because of carcinogens related to incendiation. Then you would really be on California's sh**list with celebrities calling for banning pot.

If Marijuana can just be changed to schedule 3 by a few unelected bureaucrats, then why can't those same bureaucrats make alcohol schedule 3 without a constitutional ammendment?

There's always bigger issues. There's always more important things going on.

At the rate you're going, pot would be legalized in the year 2100 when everyone posting on this board would be dead.

Again. Who, besides potheads, gives a damn? I mean, if middle school kids don't have any issue acquiring it, why should you?

You know why there's always bigger issues? Why there's always more important things going on? Because legalizing pot isn't important at all.

Classified as a III makes it very difficult for anyone to effectively study its medicinal value, and it would make it easier for some states to legalize it for medicinal use. Very important for epileptics, cancer patients, PTSD, etc..

I respectfully disagree. The moves to legalize drugs in this country are a clear sign of advanced imperial decadence.

Beware America's Recreational Drug Boom

Unfortunately, we're too deep into the cycle and too caught up between the libertines and the libertarians to save ourselves.
