It is absolutely insane that we have anyone over the age of 75 in power. Hell, even 70 is probably too old. It's stupid, irresponsible and need to be stopped.
It has less to do with age and more to do with mental capacity and function.

My aunt passed away this year at 95 and she was mentally competent until she was 94.

So just to throw an arbitrary number out there makes no sense.

example. Should Fetterman be in office? how old is he?
So who gets to decide someone's mental competance? Just put an age limit on it and you eliminate 90% of this crap.

We should be run by healthy people in their 40's, 50's and maybe early-mid 60's...not a bunch of geriatrics on the verge of death.

Term limits and age limits NOW.
One of the things the 4th turning folks point out is how slow to step into leadership roles they expected GenX to be. Seems to be true.

Age limit is the easiest way to go, can't be older than 70. There are a lot of people older than 70 that have it together but a whole lot that don't. As you can see when some go they go quickly

Exactly, don't let perfect be the enemy of good. If you're going to do it, it has to be an age limit.

It's not really arbitrary. There is an age at which you become much more likely to rapid decline. Sure, some above 75 may be fit to some degree, but they absolutely can not keep up with the rigors a leader of a country should be undertaking. The ones that are fit at 75+ can easily go down hill in a hurry, leading to the need to quickly remove them, special elections, appointments by governors, etc. It's inefficient and risky. Take ol' Joe. No one could have predicted in 2017 or 2018 how bad his dementia would be in 2020. I'd much rather arbitrarily cut some folks that may technically still be up for the job than I would the other way around.

As for fetterman, of course not. I'm fine with cognitive testing for those under 75 as well

demoralizing that this will never happen because it would involve senators voting against their own individual financial interests, which they will never do

there were reports a couple months back that feinstein was adamant in her refusal to step down. these people are greedy and power hungry to the bitter end.

These people aren't in charge. They are just puppets of the deep state. And they are rewarded handsomely with your tax dollars. See: Ukraine.

And the only candidate with the balls to erase their power is Vivek. Feinstein had a Chinese spy as her driver for years. McConnell has skeletons too. They are controlled, their sins as blackmail.

If there's any doubt or question about if he can be replaced in a timely manner with another conservative Senator, than you do everything possible to keep him in there until the next election. I know it isn't ideal, but we can't afford to lose even one 'good' republican senator. But at a minimum he needs to to quit doing these public speaking events.

We have way too many people in congress that should be retired (either due to age or disability) not running the government.

I do appreciate Mitch's efforts to shape a last conservative judiciary.

There is always the exception. Grassley has been out there trying to get to the bottom of Biden's corruption, without much help from the usual suspects.

Eighty-nine years old and has done more in his job in a day than Mitt Romney has done with more of a term kissing Democrat ass in the Senate.

There used to be a mandatory retirement age for government employees at 70 years. Congress got rid of it in1986 though. And, like most every other law, that law didn't apply to congress or appointed officials.

I say that at the age SS kicks in (for normal people anyway since congress gets their own massive cushy retirement program) should be the upper end. Your age on election day determines eligibility to run.

So..that's, what, 62 or so? Which means about 90% (guessing for those that will actually do the math and let me know I'm not 100% correct on that number) of congress would be ineligible to serve. And that would be a great thing.

Swamp rats that have been there for decades…

They've been there so long that they have colleagues who could be their grandkids.

Anyone that's in office right now and is over 70 should not be allowed to run again. This is embarrassing and sad to see, and yes, I know Mitch brought in on himself by staying in office this freaking long, but at some point both sides need to come together to get something passed so that this doesn't happen again.

If they don't, we will eventually start seeing them have grand Mal seizures and worse on live television.

While I agree we don't need 70somethings and older running the show, I'd rather see term limits. Politics should be a term of service and not a career. Having career politicians is what created the Swamp. There's no elected official that we've needed at the federal level for more than 8 years.

As far as the argument that politicians with decades of experience can get more things accomplished, do we really want the federal government accomplishing all that much? The more they do, the worse things get for us.

While we're at it, all bills should be single item bills. If you have to pass it to find out what's in it, then it doesn't need to be passed, no matter how good it sounds on the surface.

It's sad and infuriating at the same time. Term limits or age limits PLEASE.

I didn't say anything about deciding anything. It's easy, the voters don't vote for the person again.
When Ronald Reagan was elected to his FIRST team he was less than one month short of 70.

So you would have eliminated a great president. and what about Fetterman? how to we eliminate him?

What should happen is we reduce the term for a Senator to four years instead of six, then its quicker for someone to get voted out

Someone has head trauma from a car accident? who decides whether that person should stay in office.
