KAANAPALI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Evacuations were ordered Saturday afternoon for several areas of Kaanapali on Maui as firefighters battled a brush fire.
The evacuations covered Anapuni Loop to West Mahipulu.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency subsequently said the fire situation has "stabilized" and is not posing an active threat to communities.
"Firefighters are working in the area," the agency said.

I have posted before how bad the firefighter training is there. A wildfire was supposed to be contained and under control the norning before Lahaina burnt down, too. They failed.

Am I missing something? That report says that there was a brush fire, they started evacuation orders (likely early after the travesty last week) but they have stabilized the situation and it currently is not threatening residential areas.

It's not great but, during a drought, seems like pretty expected and minor news unless there is a drastic shift in reporting. Did the story change or am I missing something?

Yeah, they said that exact same thing before the Lahaina fire.

Or did you miss that reporting?

I certainly won't pretend to be an expert on the fire or reporting on it, but I do know that they were specifically worried going into that several days because of extreme weather (60-70 mph gusts for days) that aren't present today. That isn't close to the case today.

I have seen your previous posts about y'all's experience with FD's in Hawaii, but I don't think there's much reason to worry about that report more than the general worry of the tinderbox that is most of the islands right now. The total area of that evacuation area is about 15-20 homes. I think you'll see similar, and rightfully so, with just about ANY fire in any proximity to structure for a long time after the horrendous reaction to the Lahaina fire.

It makes a difference when there isn't 60 mph winds like there was a few weeks ago.

They have never had to fight range fires like we have in North Texas. You can point fingers. You can blame climate change. You can blame political parties…back and forth. Hell, you can blame my ex mother-in-laws. At the end of the day, it's still having to figure out how to take control of the situation, including the resources needed.

Yeah, I've heard. Direct Energy Weapons, the "elite" driving the local populace away, etc. The same friend who believes in Chemtrails, The Cabal and Flat Earth told me about it.

They were lucky there. No homes were burnt.

…pretty damn east to initiate a massive fire when the land is primed to burn. Post-fire the land then changes hands from those without means to those with means.

Not exactly a grand conspiracy theory. People have been destroying other's homes to take possession of the land that they're on for all of human history.
The Kraken

Setting fires intentionally to kill people and take possession of land. Maybe in the Middle Ages when their intentions were not being hid. Not today where everything would have to be done in secrecy. Yeah, that's a nutty conspiracy theory.

I hate to say this given all the tragedy as of late but my experiences with Hawaii left me feeling like it is just not a very serious state. Most folks there live life like they really do live in paradise, 365 days a year. It's la la land.

Yakuza Boss to henchman: "you're getting a Hawaiian vacation! You'll get to use my vacation house and boat while there. I expect you to spend some time in Lahaina. When the weather is right, set a brush fire upwind of the place and head on home."

I'm not saying it IS what happened - just that it'd be super easy for a rich and shady character to make the play.
