Our next set of elections in Georgia are going to be a **** show again. I rode bikes a couple of weeks a go with a group of attorneys (and one other doctor, in case a knife got stuck in my back). One of the riders was a retired federal judge who is in charge of the next set of elections (Chair of the State Election Board, apparently unanimously voted in). During a stop, he said that Georgia is going to use Dominion voting systems again for the 2024 Primaries and General Elections. Apparently, there are updates to the Dominion system that the state is NOT going to pay for. I don't know if that is good or if that is bad in terms of having free and fair elections, but any update that is not purchased, in my mind, leaves the door open even further for claims of vote rigging, election fraud, etc.
I'll give you some more background about that Dominion "update."
Long running lawsuit over the use of Dominion in the northern federal disrtict of Georgia. Plaintiffs were finally successful in obtaining in depth access to Dominion's voting systems machines and software (after the 2020 election). They had a limited ability to inspect them right before the election and found issues that raised many more questions.
Their expert, J. Alex Halderman, wrote a lengthy report for the court, who promptly sealed it. Sometime later the judge was convinced to unseal a redacted version for review by CISA. CISA flipped out and immediately sent out an alert regarding the absence of security in the Dominion system and suggested "fixes".
Only Halderman then warns that trying to "patch" nonexistent security features will cause even more issues.
