...and why she cannot win the district in the general election.

Let me set the stage here. I was attending our monthly North Cameron Country Republican Club meeting with Mayra speaking last night. This is her "home" turf, and I am running against her. She finished her speech and followed with questions.

I have long been an advocate for keeping Hidalgo County (corruption) politics out of my home county of Cameron. Mayra was sent over here by Hidalgo County when the open seat occurred.

The first thing she did (upon winning the special election that I dropped out of at the request of the Republican Party) was hire the Hidalgo County Republican Chair's brother as her District Manager who was a known predator according to news reports. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/09/16/mayra-flores-aron-pena/

I think my favorite part is where she says I am beneath her, will never be on her level, and have no money as she is taking the microphone away from the little old lady...who is the President of the club.

I actually got up to speak right after her but took my phone to the stage with me to address her accusation of not supporting her.

I won't have very many opportunities because Mayra won't debate me after she lost the first one. So I went for the jugular.

She had the most money, support, and following and didn't get the job done.

I jumped in late last election when I saw Hidalgo send Mayra over. LDP's people (and CROW Family Money) were already behind Mayra last cycle.

Mayra Flores is epitome of right place at right time. Young attractive hispanic that was paraded on Fox to talk about the Biden losing the Hispanic vote and throw out red meat. It gave her celebrity status relative to Rs in congress. Other than that nothing redeeming about her.

Umm...TX-34 has both Hidalgo and Cameron counties in it so she's not an "outsider". Even if she's from Hidalgo county, wouldn't she talk to people in Cameron SINCE IT'S PART OF TX-34?

I didn't intend that comment about Republicans being on the same team for you specifically... it was a much broader brush. And regardless, I appreciate you running and being invested and engaged. That's more than 99% of folks that think they have all the answers.

She does live in Hidalgo County, she does not live in the district. Neither does the current Representative for that matter. She was sent over here because Monica De La Cruz was already running in the main Hidalgo district. Mayra has no history in the district. She was sent over for the open seat.

The DID redraw the district between the time she won and the time she ran for re-election...and it IS a district that is a pretty blue one except for her special election term.
