Listening now. Regardless of what you think of him, I gotta credit him for this. Not many of the potus candidates could do this well in a long form interview like this. Maybe Desantis. Elder for sure. Trump lol.
Hard to disagree with what he's saying.
No one questions Vivek can communicate. Problem is that is really all he has shown he can do outside of make a lot of money by getting people to invest in his Pharma companies and Hedge funds related to them. He hasn't even really built the companies he is more of an investment guy that raised a ton of cash, got things going, then sold. He made a ton off of an Alzheimers drug that ended up never getting to market. He made his biggest payout when he went IPO with his company and got a $3 Billion valuation even though they had 8 employees. He's been masterful at buying and selling at the right time and insulating himself from losses. I have no question of his investment acumen but fundamentally he is a Warren Buffett/Gordon Gecko type who buys and sells he isn't a builder or someone that has managed large organizations.
Vivek is a guy who got a Degree in Biology but isn't a scientist and got a Degree in Law but isn't a Lawyer. He used those degrees to make a crapton of money in investing. He started the Anti ESG Hedge Fund last year but that seems to have been more of a PR stunt than a serious investing vehicle.
I have really tried to look for something else he has done but I have yet to find it. He's a Wall Street guy through and through. Trump at least built companies and managed massive payrolls and had tremendous diversity of experience. Vivek hasn't really done anything of significance in terms of community involvement or civics, he's advised a bit but he has very little knowledge of the government outside of FDA approvals for drugs and academic.
I mean maybe I have missed something but I really haven't found anything beyond that listed above on him. He's really smart. He's a really good communicator. He's an outstanding investor who knows how to make money. I'm probably most concerned that he has never truly managed a large organization to go along with no experience in government at all. The thing that scares me just as much is the level of confidence he speaks about how he knows everything better than everyone else even though he has already been proven wrong on multiple counts. His level of hubris is staggering. The fact people just listen to him and don't look under the covers at all is also mind boggling to me.
