That "training video" was from a recruiting session at a college from a few years ago. I distinctly remember the guy in a wheelchair holding a plastic training gun. It was a "be an IRS agent for a day" type program.

Not a real training program, but someone with half a brain could have foreseen the optics.

I pay a lot of taxes every year. I want to see people who cheat on their taxes prosecuted. I would assume most cases can be handled by payment of back taxes and fines. Some extreme cases may require arrest and incarceration. Maybe the IRS should get a real law enforcement agency involved at that point.

Or look at this this way. Wouldn't you love to see Hunter Biden dragged off at gunpoint and in handcuffs by iRS-CID agents. Especially ones weighing 400 lbs. or in wheelchairs?

But who gets to determine what is deemed "worst of the worst"? Our federal agencies have taken a major hit in credibility over the past few years. They have already displayed an ability to use their power beyond what it was intended for.

Whether it's a small segment or not who are actual special agents, we do not need 87,000 more IRS agents.

Next up, they'll arm TSA to motivate the average air traveler to stop flying, thus reducing our carbon footprints.

Cause I'm not getting anywhere near one of those dolts if they are armed.

I agree with all your points - I am a conservative and in the tax field- i have to deal with the IRS regularly and it sucks as it is. unfortunately congress needs to overhaul the tax code or the IRS needs to be streamlined and reorganized.

I don't know who makes that call but its not to round up the local business entrepreneur or someone just choosing not to pay their taxes. i guess the IRS could farm out the special agent requirement to some other agency when needed but I'm not going to guess how or who would do that.

Again the 87k includes replacing existing employees over a decade and will net much lower and will likely not even happen if the republicans can continue to find ways around funding.

I work with IRS agents all the time - 99% DO NOT carry guns.

This is their Criminal Investigation Division. They are the group that goes after people like the mob. This is a VERY small percentage of IRS agents.

A federal agency managing hiring process gives absolutely no one comfort that the end result is reliable.

Sometimes? I wake up in the twilight zone every morning. And they're arming them because that's who they plan to use to disarm us. Book it.

This is the mission of the IRS, from their website. Given the whistleblower testimony recently, the IRS is not meeting its mission or objective as it does NOT "enforce the law with integrity and fairness to all".

As such, the IRS should be disbanded, defunded. Period.
