As I read this article, all I could hear in my mind was Gunnery Sergeant Hartman saying, "Didn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention when you were a child?"

I'm generally fine with respecting someone's reasonable preference for pronoun usage, but JFC, this is some ridiculous ***** The majority of people I have encountered who use non-standard and/or obscure pronouns like this, I suspect do so as a means seeking attention or just want to feel special, even if only in their own minds.

Mental illness

I always favored "thou, thee, thy, thine, thyself" Has a Shakespearing and/or King James ring to it.

This is why you never give them an inch. Definitions of words matter. If you let them change even one, it will NOT be the last. It starts out as just being respectful and then it becomes compelled speech under threat of criminal status with the ludicrous idea of "hate speech."

I never understood why Orwell put so much emphasis on language…until the last few years.

I chose what I will speak.

Others can do the same.

Nobody gets to demand what they will hear.

This is just an indicator of who to avoid. It's just like someone who tells you they can speak fluent Klingon or Elvish... they spend a lot of their time in fantasy land and won't have much to talk about with us Earth dwellers.

I hope this just keeps getting crazier and the number of approved pronouns grows into the hundreds and tbey all don't know how to talk to each other and feelings are hurt.

Having skimmed several studies on this you are spot on. The overwhelming majority of young people falling into this bucket are awkward kids who are socially behind, or introverts, or in many cases simply gay and it's difficult at that age to come to terms with it.

It is like some elf language.

Like Demi Lovato did, they will all go back to using traditional pronouns because it is too exhausting having to explain your pronouns every day.

Not a felony but an offense that can make you lose your job or position.
