His basic premise is that joy will only be found as one makes progress towards a goal. It's not achievement that produces joy, but noted progress towards it. To maximize the experience of pleasure / joy, the achievement must be maximized to an ideal (even if practically unachievable)
As the modern leftist culture destroys ideals, it eliminates the precondition for joy to be achieved. I.e. in a culture where there is no beauty ideal or moral ideal, the precondition is then removed for anyone to achieve joy while seeking that ideal.
The whole series is exceptional, but I understand people don't have 8-16 hours to devote to it... this was a highlight I picked out.
