I stumbled upon the Energy board on Reddit and then I checked out the Climate Change board. Majority of people there have worked themselves into a state of despair and anxiety over climate. It's sad. There are a lot of posts from teenagers talking about being depressed about the future. WTF I didn't care about anything of that as a teenager. The primary advice they are given is to take comfort in that they are the educated ones and to make change locally instead of looking at the macro.

Then you have the anti-West posters who blame all climate on the unchecked emissions from the UK and USA historically. They dismiss China and India by saying per capita the West is higher and over course of history they've done most damage. A common theme is also the rich countries of the world need to pay for the damage to the poor countries especially Pakistan. Pakistan is a favorite.

There's also a lot of anti-Christian talk. Book of revelations is how the world ends and doesn't involve climate as the reason so they think that's why Christians aren't as worried about climate change and stupid.

And then you have the honest ones. One dude compared humans to deer saying hunters justify deer hunting by pointing to population control and government need to start controlling human population because perpetual economic growth and population growth isn't sustainable. Somebody posted about global poverty rate has been declining and living standards today are the best ever and it was being voted down. Scary.

When I was a teenager, I guess my biggest fear was a terrorist attack but I wasn't that concerned. Kids these days are scared of climate, school shootings, heavily medicated, can't decide if they want to be a boy or girl, and constantly comparing themselves on social media. The riot in NYC was an example, the people who are the future of the country are effed up.

I would guess 90% of the posts on that board or thread are made by paid actors pushing a narrative.

When I was a teenager I only thought about two things:

1. Chasing skirts
2. Making money to chase skirts

School and football filled up the rest of my time.

Their fear that the world will die while they are still around is part of the reason they're rudderless and depressed much of the time.
And stay off Reddit. Most of the posters have lost at life

My cousins husband is convinced that the sea levels are rising despite any real evidence and is looking to move from Houston to someplace above 800ft in sea level. The man is late 30's - early 40's and a college graduate.

I just kept my mouth shut and shook my head in disbelief when I heard this.

Tell him to wait until Obama, or ANY other climate agitator, sells their ocean front property, before he moves.

Kids now days are raised in schools that teach climate change hysteria. It's no surprise that many have mental illness level phobia.

In my day, it was the USSR and thermonuclear war.

UIL has implemented a rule that prevents football (and I assume all others) teams from practicing outdoors if the heat index is above 112. Politicians have forced these issues down the throats of kids. Hopefully they push back with great force when they are able to vote.

You have to deprogram the ones you can still reach and talk them down from the ledge. Let them know hey are being manipulated and having their fears and empathy exploited. Give them reasonable coherent information

Just watched Interstellar.

So that sip actor is leaving his kids to go on what is probably a suicide mission to try and save the planet human race from some blight/climate caused issue and he says you don't tell kids that the world is going to end.

I busted out laughing. That is what exactly gen z has heard their whole lives from the climate freaks. No wonder they are so stressed out.

I think they are real and really expect the world to end. No different than the zealots drinking kool aid or expecting the rapture during their lifetimes. Different religions but same negative outlook on the future of humanity

I doubt that he would listen to anything I said. He is a typical liberal who is completely convinced of both Climate Change and his own Superior Intelligence and Education. Facts, math, laws of physics and actual science mean nothing to a Liberal like him. His wife is probably even worse.

I feel sorry for their kids because they are being taught complete nonsense and probably have very little knowledge of anything involving traditional male skills. I doubt that they could change a tire or mow the grass.

My understanding of that 1970s threat of global cooling was based on a Woods Hole study.
The Greenland Ice was melting at an alarming rate. This runoff was colder than the ocean water therefore more dense. They used mathematical modeling to show the warm ocean current water moving north along the North American coast then northeastward would be forced downward by the cold water from Greenlands melting ice.

The result was a mini ice age for North America and Europe similar to the one experiences from 1400-1800(?? not sure of these dates)

Needless to say it didn't happen. Interesting to note that Portland Maine is on the same latitude as Rome Italy. The warm current along North America heads to Europe seemingly affects their environment.

If I am wrong about anything above forgive this old man for misremembering history.

ETA: Just found this, IT'S BACK
Are we heading toward another Little Ice Age?
BY ELISE HUGUS | SEPTEMBER 19, 2022
  • The culprit? Extreme rates of melting ice from the poles cause a massive disruption in the ocean currents that distribute heat around the planet. In the movie, North Atlantic currents responsible for the temperate climate along the North American East Coast and Western Europe suddenly grind to a halt, causing the northern United States and the United Kingdom to freeze over and unleashing terrible storms around the world.

Get his timeline he believes the city will be under water. Make a video today calling him an idiot. Even if at the time they are divorced, find a way to send him that video at the end of his timeline.

I have come accross a few adults who express climate anxiety.

When these kids are adults, maybe they will realize how many things they were told would happen actually didn't.

Also, you can find people who believe anything on the internet.

Related to my post above. For those interested here's a copy of a newspaper report from 1970 describing the impending mini ice age theory.

I blame the parents for not keeping their kids busy or playing outdoors with other kids. Instead parents use the TV, iPad, etc., as a babysitter so they don't have to spend time with their kids. A life wasted.

I know there's probably 2 or 3 of you on TexAgs that aren't like that.

I remember that as well. Everything was about closing the hole on the ozone layer. They had us convinced the hole was too big and all of the earths heat was escaping through the hole.

That makes no sense. What do the number of people there vs here have to do with anything?

If they are worried about pollutants they should be worried about the countries that produce the most pollutants. How many people live there has nothing to do with it

The only way this makes sense is that they aren't actually worried about pollution.

This is a battle with young kids. My teens were so filled with all that garbage that by the time I had a chance to dispel most of it, they were convinced.

The messaging is very pro-active and they brainwash kids into rebuttals. Before I can even finish my 1st response, they already had their next talking point to spew and dribble. They cover 4-5 points and feel very convinced.

It takes time, but once you start chipping away, they realize they've been deceived.

Climate change is being used to dissuade kids from dating and procreating in the name of smaller population.... less cars, less food production.

Fortunately for me, I had a good relationship with my kids and had already laid a strong foundation.

You may not realize but, Ghislain Maxwell, of Epstein fame, was the Mod for like 4 or 5 of the Top 10 forums on Reddit.

WTF? Trolling for young ones for El Jefe?

It's everywhere. Apple Maps has even started listing an excessive heat warning that you can't seem to remove. It's summer, we don't need a warning to tell us it's hot.

Count me in for at least one. My Aggie freshman this year has never once said anything about climate change. Then again, I took her fishing as soon as she was able to hold a pole and we grew her up on lakes and rivers. I have two more after her and I have no doubt they will never whisper anything about that. It DOES help that I am a scientist and teach my kids how to evaluate things based on that method.

Most people may not, but the damage the Federal Department of Education has been quite extensive since 1980.
