That's never been true on f16 unfortunately.

From what I've read: at one point she was told about a 3-year offer would be made, then two things happened: 1) It went public and people started talking about her being pro-DEI, and 2) This went up the food chain (necessary for a hire of this magnitude). As a result of some combination of those two things the offer was changed to a 1-year offer and she balked. And instead of saying the truth that it was because of her DEI beliefs, she blamed race and sex - primarily as a result of that idiot Bermudez's mouth.

At least that's my understanding so far...which may be incomplete.

IDK, paying the $1m is better than letting her DEI beliefs loose on our students.

Also, there was one doc sent early on from her I had read where she had made promises about Hispanic Journalism - perhaps to get on Bermudez's good side to get an offer? Just speculation on my part...

Nice to see that KBTX is cutting and pasting content from the Texas Tribune (McGee).

From reading those docs Bermudez should be paying the university back that million. He was dumb enough to share his own personal opinions with a potential hire and the only one that made anything about a protected class.

NONE of the race pushback was by TAMU officials.

The regents were the only ones with any sense to question why we were hiring a vigilant DEI person as a leader at the same time they were being asked to certify compliance. I'd be asking the same questions they were if I was being asked to sign off that we are compliant.

Banks being gone should just be a start. Burmudez should be gone too
