No this is an Ivy League educated businessman that has been vlogging in Ukraine for years. Is married to a Ukrainian and has kids that are Ukrainian. He has been very critical of the West and has explained the history of the conflict. Kinda debunked the "virtuous Ukraine" persona the MSM portrayed to Americans who started paying attention to the conflict when they were told to pay attention.

His mistake was covering the war from the totalitarian country while badmouthing the political/military leadership there continuously. I don't consider him a hero at all, just a guy who liked the attention his war coverage got him, and took it way too far. Similar to the guy who tried to take a poster of the pot belly guy in Pyongyang a few years ago and…wound up dying.

Moscow, Tehran, Kiev, Havana, Beijing…be careful to follow the company lines if you are in those sorts of places. After J6, the same could be said for DC, imho, to a lesser extent.

If you were living in Taiwan during the Chinese invasion, you might feel the importance of the situation to stay and report what you see, comment on the conflict, etc.

Humans don't have the best self-preservation instincts.

I would agree. The thing that makes human human is the ability to reason and hold values that endanger the host. It's one of the primary reasons why I can't buy into evolution--morality, a soul, etc are not present in nature. A croc killing a wildebeest is amoral, not immoral.

The important thing is that we all support Ukraine's war for 'freedom,' and ignore their lack of elections, freedom of the press, movement, speech, internet, war crimes, corruption, ingratitude, accountability, oppression of Russians, or anything else.
