So, apparently, the new hotness for a young lady is to be in your 20's, work 4 - 6 hours a day, and make 60k a year.

No opportunity for career advancement.

No worries about performance reviews.

Just try to make it by.

COVID broke a lot of people.

What's telling is there are still young people that are out there that are busting their ass. One of the people at the firm I work for is a director at 28, making well into the 6 figures, with an opportunity to make partner around 30.

And people are surprised about growing income disparity?

[We have removed all of the OnlyFans jokes because all of you that made the joke after the first time it was posted were not reading the thread or thought it was still funny. -Staff]

So if Bill 30 years ago went to the plant and made good money, got to go to every little league game, and never had to worry about being the boss it was commendable?

But now people are just tired of the rat race and want to make enough money to survive while doing the minimum and it's horrific?

I got small kids now and I get it. The killing yourself to appease some idiot across an ocean who is staring at spreadsheets is over. It's not worth it in the vast majority of situations.

Got a family friend that teaches. Doesn't care about the pay. Just wants enough to survive and have 2 months off in the summer and 2 weeks in the winter to travel the world. He's making pretty good decisions IMO.

It's not horrific, but good luck competing against skilled immigrants who don't mind hard work to better the lives of their kids. Come early and stay late

Most people who are earning $60K are working about 4 hours anyway (think office space)

Isn't this what the Euros have been doing for a long time?

Trying to find a similar type of opportunity for my wife. Kids are going to a hybrid school where they're home 2 days/week and she needs the flexibility to help them with school those two days.

I know she's not going to make $60-70k working 3 days/week, but $25-40k/yr should be doable and all that really needed at the moment.

This. The number of hours people turned in at an office is never actual hours worked. The truly hard working office jobs are there to do the work that the other office people aren't doing while slacking off half the day

Are any of these women aware that if they were a man, they would be making $70.2k a year for the same 4 hour a day job?

It's so sad.

What is the average take for a girl doing onlyfans? It can't be that much. I would assume most girls do it for a few months and don't make enough to stay active, while a small percentage kill it. And that same small percentage is shown as what is possible pulling in the next round of suckers.

And the psychology of the average customer has to be very interesting. I would assume like the girls, probably a large percentage only spend a few bucks and then move on, while a small percentage shower a few girls with money and go broke.

This is the correct mindset about money. We've all heard the concept of minimum effective dose. Why not apply that to money/income? Figure out what you really want, and design your life around that. If you truly want the mansion, yacht, private jet, Ferrari, etc. then go for it. It is possible and even probable with the right mindset. But I'll caution you this: most of the people I know that traded their youth for those things ended up unhappy later in life.

The vast majority of people are simply chasing money because they think it will make them happy. The truly important things often get put off when they tell themselves "once I have enough money, I'll do the things I want." Usually that never happens, they just spend their raises/savings on a bigger house, nicer car, better food and so on.

The rational approach to this is:
1. Take some time to figure out what you really want. Where you want to live and who you want to do it with.
2 how much will that cost?
3. What's it going to take, and am I really willing to pay that price in terms of life being traded for it?

Usually, it takes a lot less than you think…assuming of course, that you're honest and accurate about number 1.

$72.3k. It's y=x/(1-.17) to get x that is 17% less than y.

Start your own business. It'll be a hell of a lot more work at first. But if you do it right, it'll be a hell of a lot more money for even less work later on.

I can honestly say after 30+ years, corporate culture has sucked the life out of me. Serves me right for working for the man instead of finding some way to be my own boss. Anyway, retirement can't get here fast enough. Technically ten years away, but I'm desperately hoping to making it work in five.

I honestly cannot imagine surviving on $60k per year in this day and age with the way things are. And that is in Houston...forget coastal cities or places like Chicago.

Same, I am growing beyond tired of it and trying to find a way to do something that is more fruitful...tough to make that leap with a young family but I can't do this forever. The increasing wokeness pushed, and the fact that they were demanding that all employees submit proof of vaccination or religious exemption (which was apparently like pulling teeth to go through) has made me actually despise my company.

You think these girls are moms, or girls who want to be moms?

Quote:

A new workplace term is going viral on social media to describe jobs that allow young professionals to achieve the elusive goal of work-life balance: the "lazy girl job."

A number of Generation Z TikTok users are promoting this new approach to work, which bucks the trend of the United States' always-on, hustle culture that can lead to young people feeling they must be chained to their desks in order to succeed in their careers.

Members of Gen Z, the oldest of whom are now in their early- to mid-20s and are entering the workforce, came up with the lazy girl label themselves and are wearing it proudly. In fact, the hashtag has nearly 18 million views on the social media platform. Younger workers may be disillusioned by older generations' insistence that overworking is the way to get ahead, experts said.

I dont fault anyone with this mindset. Im getting there really fast.
I'm on a 6 week vacation currently and am giving serious thought to selling it all and moving here to have a much more simple life and get out of the rat race. I could sell all my crap, both businesses and house and could live very well for several years if I wanted but I imagine I would get something fast to fill my time. I have a cousin that did this and he loves it and has been away from the states for about 11 years now.

Except the talking point isn't 83 cents, it's 77 cents that women supposedly earn for every dollar a man makes.

So men should be making about $78k for every $60k a woman makes.

Young women used to get married to young men and they'd start a family which is far from a 'lazy girl job' but WAY MORE REWARDING than a 'lazy girl job' or a 'boss girl job.'
