I hope not. I haven't been able to see them this summer, but I thought it was odd that both times that I saw them last year they left out the line "Say Merry Christmas not Happy Holiday." in Ballad of a simple man. First time it was like oh well, and the second time it was like....that's more than a coincidence.

Hopefully they will have a Texas date or two in the fall so that I can check them out.

Saw them in Fort Worth last year and they sang those lyrics along with "i still fly that southern flag"

People are noticing.

This may not end well for him but iI am sure he feels morally right.

Is that him and Isbell in the video?

Looked to me like Tyler at the mic (obviously) and Isbell (I think) was the miner who saw them and gathered an group to BTHO them.

Childers hasn't made a good song in 5-6 years. His last album, the gospel one or whatever the hell it is, was absolutely terrible. I don't expect this next one to be any better.

The only song I know offhand of his is Feathered Indians and it's one of my favorites. I'm not going to deep six his whole discography over it. I don't like Binghams politics but he's staying on my playlist because he's a. Good singer and songwriter. I've never had a lot of issue separating these things. The inability to do so and be perpetually pissed off at…everything… sounds like a miserable existence but I am enjoying the thread.

WestTexAg12 - I am a Christian and Conservative Republican. However, if you think "strong family principles and Christian morals" somehow prevents people from being gay, well then, that is some ignorance. I know MANY families that meet this criteria and many of them have gay family members. Several that went to ATM, got married, had kids and then in their later years, came out as gay. Another is large east Texas rural family. Very Christian family with 4 brothers and one is gay. It is not a choice in my opinion. Just look at the kids in the 80's and 90's high schools that everyone knew was gay by middle school but didn't come out until well later in life. It was not socially acceptable back then.

Now, is a different story, as this current LGBTQ crap and gender identity BS is mostly peer pressure or social media, or something else, but to me this is not the same thing. I can't explain this new stuff.

Most gay people I know cannot stand this new alphabet people craziness. And my gay friends don't push their beliefs on anyone else. They just want to be left alone and live their lives, and I can't blame them. I'll say a prayer for them and let God judge them, not me.

Yes. The last straw was his fundraising concerts for Joe Biden.

What makes a great song writer? A ****ed up life mostly, their personal pain is our pleasure. I'll enjoy their music, but ignore their voting suggestions.

Solid point. I think one of the big differences between liberals and conservatives is empathy vs logic.

Liberals tend to think with the heart more than the brain, while conservatives tend to be the opposite. Doesn't necessarily mean conservatives are smarter or liberals are kinder or either side is "better", just that one side biases more towards empathy than the other.

Seeing that songwriting and art in general are more of an expression from the heart, it really isn't surprising so many are liberal, from Willie to Garth Brooks to the latest generation of country musicians.

Tyler Childers seems like a guy who is super high empathy and emotions over common sense and logic. It's probably what allows him to write such great music, but also why literally no one should look at him as some kind of thought leader on politics.

It also needs to be noted that Childers has an openly gay cousin that he is quite close to. He played a huge part in Childers life growing up and with songwriting. This is t some gay song that he just pulled out of thin air. As already noted, he's an artist and these songs stem from life experience This is what I like most about music artists. When you live it, you don't give a crap what anyone else really thinks. It's a good song and it's made better by the fact it's personal.

Just to make another point, I listened to the song on Spotify and then read the lyrics. This song is in no way "gay" until you watch the video. That is why it's not going to be a big deal. I don't know many people that watch musics videos. It scrolls across the playlist and that's that. It begs the question, how did the OP figure out it was gay? How does anyone find this stuff? Are y'all members off clickbait sites that channel talking points to you? I'd have never in a hundred years had cause to watch the music video in this and I'm heavily invested in the local and small genre music scenes.

Still stand by my point, not a big deal.

Don't know the artist and just watched the video. I try to focus on the bigger message, much like the Brokeback movie - which was robbed of the best film award.

No doubt controversial but he'll also gain new fans from the ones he will lose. Much like Madonna's career.

Next.

See, this guy gets it. I don't know whether he likes the song or not, whether he cares or not, and I'm betting his day and life has been altered in no way due to the new found knowledge of the existence of the song of an artist. Why more people can't be like this is unfathomable.

You still stand by this statement now that Tyler Childers won't be playing "Feathered Indians" anymore?

He's gone so woke he won't play it just so that it "keeps a conversation going." LMAO.

He could change the lyrics and still preach at the crowd, but won't even do that. Such a beta!

Don't care. Not my song. Not my business. If he thinks that's what he needs to do then so be it. It's not my job to like it or not. I think a lot of people just get worked up because this guy has an opinion and he's made it clear in a public way and most folks complaining would be lucky if 3 people outside their circle thought of them as important enough to have an opinion at all.

Write your own music.

Again, who's give a damn?

This should be the end of the thread. If I don't want my family to starve or be enslaved by communists I will follow capitalists and god fearing conservatives. If I want to listen to good music, I'm sorry, but it's not coming from Rush Limbaugh and Steven Miller....it's coming from a room full of weird people with imaginations so good they can ignore logic.

Seriously. Why do people care about the politics of an artist, athlete, actor, or entertainer? Very much yelling at clouds.

I think his reasoning for not playing his most popular song is moronic, but who cares? Personally, I haven't had any real desire to see him live, but I've seen others who are liberal. So long as they're not making a big habit of going on political rants at their normal shows, I couldn't care less.

Well, you see, they're all clowns. We don't care one bit about them outside of the entertainment they provide. Wouldn't know one thing beyond their clown show. Once they start "preaching", they breach that understanding and are subject to the scrutiny.

Probably because it's become so front and center with everything now.

It used to be that, even if we disagreed politically, we could still come together and enjoy music, sports, movies, or other forms of entertainment.

Now we can't enjoy it without someone trying to inject politics or virtue signal to some group or cause.

I guess. Or it's a way better way to go through life just listening to what you like despite the artists politics.
