And she really was exposing pedo networks before it was cool. Wayyy ahead of her time in that area. Not sure if it ran all the way up to Pope John Paul II, but to me, her statement wasn't about him.

And before someone lets me have it...acknowledging closet gay pedophiles in the Church and coordinated efforts to cover it up is not "anti-Catholic". Those people involved were not Christians...closer to demonic.

Whenever I think about Sinead O'Connor, I can't get this old SNL sketch out of my head.
Good grief they were funny back then.

I was in grad school when that aired. We laughed out asses off because we watched McLaughlin on Sunday afternoons.

She's had a lot of mental health issues for a long time now. other than that one song, I wasn't really a fan but I wouldn't wish suicide on anyone's family.

She was definitely ahead of her time in calling out the Catholic Church, and she took a lot of flak for it. It was such a memorable moment -- at a time when SNL had real cultural relevancy -- and most people thought she was showboating.

But she was actually right, and her critics were wrong.

I blew her off back then because I thought her complaint was wrapped up in the Protestant English- Catholics Irish conflict that consumed a lot of attention in the 1980s. I heard so much about it that I became immune to anyone with a British Isles accent complaining about a church.

Had a little thing for her back in the day

When she was bald?

Yes
I'd agree. She was able to pull it off, unlike anyone else I've known.

She was stunning in that video and her performance outstanding. Can't recall if she won a Grammy or who won it that year. She was definitely troubled in her later years, though.

Pretty certain it was suicide given the way the articles are written.

Sadly, she had a lot of mental issues for a very long time. The only real shock is this didn't happen a long time ago.
I read another article today that she has THREE surviving children

so now they lost a brother and a mother to suicide.

that's living hell right there

I listened to the heck out of The Lion and the Cobra when it came out.

She was a hugely talented, hugely tragic figure.

Yes, it is. There are millions of pedophiles in the world yet the discussion always begins (and usually ends) with Catholic clergy. Wonder why that is ….

She was showboating. She supported the IRA. Ruthless Catholic killers. Her SNL performance was indeed that.

Suicide runs in families - I've seen it first hand when my brother became a stepfather. Birth father committed suicide and the child always thought he would too. He died his senior year in HS by shooting himself in my brother's house. My brother didn't have guns in his house, but it doesn't stop someone from getting one. My brother and SIL did all they could to prevent this.
Awful. I wish that on no person.

Because it is the most grotesque and inexcusable. But also, because leftists hate religion.

But biblically, church leaders should be held to the highest of standards and the fact that there were , not just pedophiles, but actual organized coverups...sorry, that is horrific and the God of my bible will hold such men extremely accountable for messing with little children.

Penn State was huge earth shattering news and their reputation was tarnished for years, and that was much smaller in scope.

But it IS frustrating, because leftist always point to it as the only case of sexual misdeeds against children and they also greatly exaggerate the degree and frequency to which it happened. It's horrific, but not as widespread as they would have you believe.
