I'm not sure the DoD would be authorized to pay to move remains by private jet. If Congress wants that benefit, they need to authorized it. It seems transportation by commercial airline would have been free.

I think the issue was burial at Arlington.. Not the "shipping" home.

Having said that I think that she should be buried at Arlington and that Biden should dig the grave.

We could have staggered the exfil pieces at a time, but to leave that much in armaments to the taliban of all people? These guys were nowhere near the level of arms we gave them, why leave them a single bullet? Think what you will but Trump has an interview where he spoke to their leader and told him we were leaving but if they harmed a single American soldier as we did so there'd be repercussions, and he states he sent him a pic of his house with his family walking about. Think about it: even if he was bluffing you know he'd have to think twice about acting foolish if he thinks his family is literally about to get obliterated. Think of the Iranian general here and how Iran did zero. Seriously what were they gonna do? Nothing, they know we weren't playing.

It's a disgrace how we left. Not only does this send a message to the world but that area was strategic. Us leaving the way we did is not good optics let alone not good long term strategy for that region.

It was "left behind" for the Afghan army, not because it was expensive to bring it back. It was always going to stay, and they're the ones who abandoned it, not us. The poor planning on our part wasn't "leaving it behind," it was who we gave it to when we decided to leave.

Our withdrawal was a disaster. Biden sucks, he's not "my boy" like you claimed.

Afghanistan was a quagmire. Trump left us in it his entire presidency. Biden's administration got us out even though they did it incompetently. The result is that getting out saved American lives. More Americans died in Afghanistan while Trump pretended to work the art of the deal than died under Biden.

I would think that the first step would be to figure out how many airplane loads it would take to haul it out and how far it needs to be hauled. How many loads a day can we haul including time to load the airplane and time to unload it. Then figure the cost of doing each load plus the cost of holding the base long enough to haul it all out.

Then compare that to an estimate of the used value of the equipment.

I'm glad that it is not my job to try to come up with such estimates.

That said, it would probably have been far cheaper just to destroy it on site, but even that would have probably been quite an undertaking.
