I am concerned by reports like this but skeptical until Walberg actually comes out in public and says what is being claimed he said.

I have a journalistic rule. If it checks EVERY. SINGLE. BOX. Odds are it's not true, and my red flag antennae start going crazy.

To me, this is the same as Smollett's deal or Tawana Brawley or anytime someone writes something racist on a restaurant check (station actually refuses to cover anything involving the latter, because it's gotten so many other stations in trouble). It checks all the boxes and, just as bad, it has zero sourcing.

This is more like someone telling you they saw a person drowning, then get attacked by a shark, and everyone on the beach laughed and cheered the attack on. The problem is the reporter wasn't at the beach, hasn't talked to anybody on the beach, doesn't say which beach it happened at, and nobody on any beaches seems to have any idea what the person is talking about.

Also, a quick Google search of the author "Baxter Dmitry" (like, an almost zero percent chance that's a real name, lol), has conspiracy articles that are honestly pretty creative in their ridiculoussness.
