Turkey is going to wind up admitted to the EU now, opening the middle east floodgates further to 'migrants' into central Europe. They made that the crux of their demand about Sweden. This is the WEF faction working to undermine the big swing to the right that is happening in the north of Europe in particular (see: Denmark).

Quote:

The two countries agreed to continue cooperation on counter-terrorism efforts, and NATO will establish a new Special Coordinator for Counter-Terrorism role, the statement said. Sweden and Turkey "also agreed to step up economic cooperation."

In addition, Sweden "will actively support efforts to reinvigorate Trkiye's EU accession process," the statement said.

US President Joe Biden, who is scheduled to meet with Erdoan on Tuesday evening, welcomed the Turkish president's commitment "to transmit the Accession Protocol for Sweden to Trkiye's Grand National Assembly for swift ratification."

Turkey has been in NATO since the early 1950's and has the second largest military in NATO. Why wouldn't we?

BRICS to induct 5 new members in August. Interestingly, none are likely to lead to mass migration into Europe, unlike Turkey.

Congrats, war cheerleaders, and other WEF enthusiasts/communists on your big wins!

Looks like the BRICS new currency might be backed by the gold standard. If this is true, buy buy American dollar. It fun while it lasted.

Turkey being in NATO makes lots of sense to anybody who looks at a map. However, the EU needs to keep Turkey out. They don't need a Muslim country in the EU.

I am not sure I have ever wept about "American hegemony." I do admit to being saddened by our decline, political corruption and betrayals, and as well the ongoing decline and fall of Europe, both culturally and politically/militarily.

I'm not invested, I've given up on this country years ago. It's one powder keg away from collapsing into full anarchy. Doesn't mean I don't hold a little shred of hope. However at this point let it burn, I've got marshmallows I can roast.

LOL. Even without factoring in the EU membership impact some are figuring the scam out. Way to go team Xiden! Congrats on the new Putin ally being 'on your team!'

Quote:

And then there's the fact that Turkey hasn't exactly been a reliable ally to either NATO or the EU under Erdogan's rule. He's at least as closely aligned with Russia and Iran as he is with Europe or the United States. He has endangered military security through the weapons deals he's cut with the Russians. And he's held multiple Western citizens hostage, sometimes for years, including Americans. What sort of an ally does that?

The reason that all of this context is (possibly) in the past tense is that Erdogan later retracted. According to the WaPo, Erdogan has now agreed to let Sweden's bid move forward. He's probably just trying to bandage up the wounds of his obvious duplicity, but sometimes you take what you can get.

That shouldn't be enough, though. Fool me once, shame on you, etc. There's probably a better solution on the table than what Erdogan was proposing, though nobody apparently wants to bring it up during all of the Ukrainian tension that's gripping the world. Instead of allowing Turkey into the EU and accepting Sweden into NATO as a trade, once Sweden is in, let's boot Turkey out of NATO and have the rest of the members vote in Sweden without them.

Problem solved! Let Erdogan go partner up with Putin, which he's pretty much already done anyway. But as I said, I highly doubt anyone is in the mood to be that practical and blunt at the moment. But our various NATO representatives should ask themselves one question. If Erdogan hadn't backed down, who would have suffered more if this deal hadn't gone through? Sweden was waiting quite a while and has many Western allies. They would probably have been fine for a while longer. But the European Union would suddenly have had a very unpleasant fox in their henhouse if this deal had been made. Sometimes no deal is better than a bad deal. If NATO gains Sweden and we still dump Turkey, what have we really lost?
