As a Buddhist I could care less what anyone says. If they disrespect the Buddha's teachings that's their problem not mine. They won't be damned or anything like that..it's just their loss.
So, it's really silly to get upset with people that hate your religion burning your holy book. If someone has enough time on their hands to buy a Quran, the Kingford and matches, and then feel the need to burn a holy book, that person has enough problems and probably isn't a threat to your religion.
Sometimes we will hear "If you meet the Buddha along the road, kill him." I take this to mean to not necessarily disrespect the teachings but to remember not to be consumed with dogma and miss the forest for the trees.
