Do we have bases in close proximity to China? Korea maybe? If so, isn't that kind of inconsistent? I guess it depends on what kind of bases/weapon systems are there, and what we have near them.

If you already have an existing military base on an island against the will of the government of said island, I would say you have already successfully invaded. What am I missing?

Well, someone may want to talk to Taiwan as well. Is Taiwan a sovereign nation? I mean, our own elected leaders struggle mightily with the question.

Some of you yokels like to crack jokes that turn out not to be funny because you fail to consider there are real world situations at play and rather than answer you try and take a dig at someone.

Is, does Cuba have the right to partner with China? If they don't and we invade to stop it, then one would argue it is not or that it was and we ignored it like Putin is doing to Ukraine.

Then you get to Taiwan and I am not sure anyone here could answer with certainty whether Taiwan is a sovereign nation or not. Their status is even muddier than Ukraine.
