I remember that I always knew that the shot was about ensuring that if we caught it, it wouldn't be so bad. That's why they wanted to vaccinate the elderly and immunocompromised folks first.
You are misremembering this. Early on, the media/government narrative was "you will not get COVID and you will not transmit the virus once you get the vaccine"x1000. Then once vaccinated people began getting COVID en masse, it became "well, it prevents severe illness and death, but you can still get it and transmit it."
A direct quote:

BIDEN: "You're not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations."

And remember when people DID get COVID after being vaccinated, they called them "breakthrough" cases and touted how RARE they were...

Rochelle Walensky famously claimed many times that the COVID vaccine prevented infection and transmission of the virus.

Even after it became glaringly obvious that this was false, she kept on insisting that the cause of its failure to do so was the development of "variants," and that the vaccine did work for the original virus. She just repeated this claim to Congress in testimony before a committee investigating the government's response to the pandemic.

This, it turns out, is a lie, and she knew it. Way back at the beginning of the vaccine rollout, she was quite concerned about the fact that the vaccine did not appear to be working as intended.

This revelation comes via a FOIA request that, you can see, was redacted. Given that the email was in no way classified, the excuse for removing 90% of the content is a mystery.

Perhaps the content was embarrassing? Who can say? Perhaps she included war plans against Iran or secret intelligence that Russia was planning an invasion of Ukraine.

Nah. It is embarrassing information. You know it and I know it. They blotted out the meat of the email because it would prove conclusively that Walensky et al were knowingly lying to the American public.

The claims that the vaccine would stop the virus "in its tracks" were always based upon thin air, and would be inconsistent with vaccines for respiratory viruses in general.

First of all, at the time of introduction, the vaccine hadn't even been tested for stopping transmission, and the testing for infection was extraordinarily rushed. These vaccines didn't go through the normal development process and there was no time to test them in a manner that would justify Walensky's claims.

Even the manufacturers didn't make the kind of claims that Walensky made, and I suspect the scientists who developed the vax winced every time some government official made them. The trials they conducted were small and rushed, there were breakthrough cases in those trials which the companies disclosed, and the claims of efficacy were based upon an observed reduced risk.

Nobody involved actually believed that the vaccine was 100% effective. How could they? The claim is implausible on its face, especially with a respiratory virus. After he retired Dr. Fauci himself wrote a paper explaining why vaccines don't tend to work against most respiratory viruses, and why the current type of vaccine never will.

I don't disagree with the premise that the CDC and other high up health officials exaggerated the vaccine positives and downplayed the negatives, but the idea that a whole bunch of stuff is redacted is proof that she said what we claim she said is silly.

If we want to hit the left for ignoring facts and evidence and making stuff up, we can't really do that with a straight face if we're doing the same thing.

We need to be more discerning in what we propagate and the sources we frequent. Any site or writer that uses the "see this blank page, here's what it says" argument as proof needs to be avoided.

Have Fauci, Rochelle etc. all provided their medical records of vaccination/boosters?

I would give anything to find out if they are fully vaxxed and boosted or not. Same with many politicians.

How crazy would it be to find out they were unvaxxed...or just got the vax but no subsequent boosters.

Anything less than completely vaxxed and boosted would be pretty much criminal hypocrisy and worthy of investigation imo.
Wellenski was asked in late 2021 how many at the CDC were vax'd and she couldn't answer the question either because she didn't know, or didn't want to admit less than half of them were vax'd (IMO it was the latter).

I doubt she would answer that question today.

I am remembering from the beginning. The story changed so many times. I'll own that

I don't think anyone ever publicly claimed there would be zero breakthrough cases, so that doesn't mean much of anything.

I believe the CDC and our health and political leaders were all captaining a big fail boat in CoVID response, and that they misled us at multiple points, but that article is based on a lot of supposition of what the blank page said.

That bald guy sitting in the back behind Walensky is hilarious.

He might as well have held up a giant "Everything she just said is bulls***" sign given his facial reactions. He was having a My Cousin Vinnie moment.

The President of the United States literally said "If you are vaccinated, you WILL NOT get Covid".

The vax and hide strategy was always bull***** Even with 100% efficacy, you're talking about patching a vax six months after new strains come on the scene. I'm pulling that timeline out of my ass, but I actually think I'm being generous. It never was going to work.

This was all about a control game. Resetting the system and taking control of power.

Vaxs were shown to "work" for about 4-6 months before they didn't.

Trump or Biden? Both were huge vaccine boosters (rimshot). Either way, I meant people who we would expect to take seriously. No thinking person has ever said or thought any vaccine would be literally 100% effective.

So there would be breakthrough cases, and it makes sense for CDC officials to be talking about them. If you want to cite to actual proof, find out what the redacted portion of the email says.

My point is that they lied, and screwed up, but that this article is based on nothing and shouldn't be taken seriously. So much of our public discourse would be better if we didn't all pass around bs articles (or headlines, in many cases) that don't hold up to scrutiny. And neither side is immune to that.

Occams Razor.

We know they lied repeatedly. Our government lies to us about everything. It's been proven time and again since 2016 especially by democrats. You know that.

Therefore, it is logical they are covering something up here.

Biden...

BIDEN: "You're not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations."

As to the breakthrough cases, they were purported to be EXTREMELY rare. Which was not true and they knew it...
