And the topic was low birth rates?

Quote:

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with Tesla founder and Twitter owner Elon Musk for an hour and a half in Rome this week, bonding over concerns about low natality rates.

Meloni said it was a "great pleasure" to meet Musk, an assertion corroborated by photos of the two smiling and hugging:

Quote:

Italy's first female prime minister said the meeting was "very fruitful," noting they had discussed "crucial issues," such as innovation, the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence, European market rules, and shrinking birth rates.

The birth rate is, in fact, a vital issue for Musk. He famously tweeted in 2022 that "[p]opulation collapse due to low birth rates is a much bigger risk to civilization than global warming."

Considering how many children Elon has and the topic, the use of the word "fruitful" was unfortunate.

Elon spreading his seed.
I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.

Elon is the only "elite" on the planet with a brain.

Population decline is a huge threat to modern civilization and he's the only guy talking about it.

Why is the low birth rate such a big issue? If we lost 90% of our population it would put us back to the 1800s, but with modern technology. Would that be so bad?

The problem is citizens voted in politicians who spent more than all the money they received in taxes. Countries will never payback be able to payback their debt even with high birth rates. But at low birth rates, countries won't even be able to service their debt very soon. So governments are desperate to increase their populations and tax revenues to keep the game going a little longer.

Basically, big government Ponzi schemes will fail much quicker with low birth rates than high birth rates. But they will all ultimately fail. Politicians just don't want it to fail while they are in office.

This.

Demographic changes make huge differences. Does not mean they always come to fruition though.

In the early 2000s, the predicted stock market crash was 2012 when Boomers cashed out.

Um, who is going to maintain the infrastructure that keeps everything running? Hell, we already have problems today with that because people don't want to work or we can't find qualified people.

LOL you think we don't have enough people now to maintain our infrastructure?

The problem Elon is talking about affects our future population. Our population is currently higher than it's ever been obviously. The problem is our dream team includes people like:

Joe Biden
Kamala Harris
AOC
Fetterman
Gavin Newsom
Mayorkas
Wray
Buttigieg
Blinken
Garland
Sotomayor
Rachel Levine
Sam Brinton
Schiff
Pierre Delecto
Yellen
Shiela Lee
Hank Johnson

And on and on and on...

Low birth rates are bad for advanced societies, not so much for the less developed ones.

Funny, all my photos of ancestors (going back 2 or more generations) show huge families. They needed lots of children to run their farm operations.

And running operations is less developed than an Urbanite

It doesn't take that many people to run one now comparatively, and if you automated a lot of what could be but isn't.... still wouldn't be hard.

This is true.

As well as the government ponzi scheme issue.

The solution is maintaining the population OR racing to get to the point that automation basically can make and produce everything for basically free before the collapse. This solution also has the benefit of giving us an almost limitless supply of goods which will drive down prices and usher in UBI.

However the latter solution ALSO has the added drawback of making it so that 80% of people don't have jobs because manual labor and rote repetitive jobs are all done by machines.

What do you do as a human when you have nothing valuable to contribute to society?

Idle hands...and all that

All of human history has been driven by population growth. Historically it is the key component of economic growth. We have no economic model that doesn't feature population growth. The social programs that have come to define retirement don't work without the tax base created by consumption in the 20-40 age bracket.
A fearful society is a compliant society. That's why Democrats and criminals prefer their victims to be unarmed. Gun Control is not about guns, it's about control.

Well the good news is we are becoming more and more stupid and less handy/resourceful. We need to attract central and South American and Eastern European nuclear families with good values. And South Africans.

Smart immigration policy could help position us nicely imo.

Let me take a more realistic approach. Suppose you reduce population by 10% over a few years. Suppose the reduction was evenly distributed across geography.

Consider roads and bridges. Consider power utilities. You wouldn't reduce the number of miles of roads by 10%. You wouldn't reduce the miles of power lines and number of electrical poles by 10% and you wouldn't reduce number of power plants. But you would reduce the labor to produce, operate and service by 10% at least.

That means the roads will go to hell since most of the damage is done by exposure to the elements. There are 10% fewer workers to make repairs. There are 10% fewer workers to make the asphalt and concrete to repair the roads. There are 10% fewer workers to produce the oil and gravel for the asphalt. 10% fewer people to transport all that stuff. The entire supply chain is affected. It means power failures will take much longer to fix after a storm . It also means fewer engineers and operators at power plants. Yet we'd still have the same number of plants, just less electricity being produced. Does that put us at jeopardy of not being able to run some plants?

It would have a very negative ripple effect.

Pat Buchanan write about this over 30yrs ago in his book, Death of the West. Of course he was called racist for bringing these FACTS to light. He describes in GREAT detail, how the death rates FAR exceed the birth rates for Judeo Christian countries across Europe and how Italy would basically be a theme park with no Italians by 2050. That the unfettered immigration, abortion on demand in EU and the need for workers to support their socialist policies would be their downfall. America is on same path. Russia, which has twice the landmass of the USA, had fewer than 200MM Russians. That Japan was also a dying country. Germany, France, GB, and the Baltics are all dying.

As of his writhing, he claimed that the third world creates another Mexico, EVERY 15 MONTHS. That the more affluent a society becomes, they have less children. You can see this among the different socioeconomic groups here in US. Whites are dying and if white women do not start to have the same number of children as their great grandmothers, whites will cease to exist too.
